Where is the phonebook file in MPT 4.04?

After upgrading to 4.04 and backing up my phonebook, I can't find the .csv file in the new directory (C:/Program Files/Motorola Phone Tools). I used to copy and paste the file in a seperate backup drive.
I also noticed you can't restore the phonebook into a different phone other than the model you pulled it from.
Has anyone found a way around that?

MPT uses a different file format for backup files in 4.04... I'm not sure what the file type is anymore, or where its stored. You can restore the backup to another phone, by selecting the "change modem" or "change phone" menu option. Since you will then be connecting to a different phone, under the SAME profile, it should give you the option to restore from that backup file.

BTW, nice name!

It still gets saved as in .csv format.
Find the saved phonebook or calendar at ||C:\Documents and Settings\your-user-name\Local Settings\Application Data\BVRP Software\Motorola Phone Tools\Backup\whatever-you-named-your-backup||

thanks redragon, that's what I was looking for. I didn't know they made the backup folders hidden. I appreciate the replies.

However, if you connect a different model handset (e.g. v547 rather than your usual v3) then you will not be able to see the previous backup - or at least that is how it is on my PC running WinXP Home SP2 and MPT 4.04 with folders set to show hidden files.

When you next connect your previous handset (say the v3) the csv file is then visable and the other backup (say the v547) vanishes!

I haven't checked the location/folder posted above manually yet, but even after a full search of "My Computer" for *.csv, the backup in question was not found! My XP is set to show all hidden/system files etc.

I'm pretty happy with the changes in the new MPT, but they absolutely ruined the SIM backup tool by taking away so much control. I hate to say that the with the older MPT was much easier to backup the phonebook.

I hope I can find the file manually, but even if I can, I don't like the simple fact that I can't even choose the folder to save it to. Ubergay.

For most people, it is here:
C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Login User Name>\Local Settings\Application Data\BVRP Software\Motorola Phone Tools\Backup

I had MPT 3.23 version of backup restored to my phone using MPT 4.04. The file format are the same or compatible.
