e815 rebooting problem...tips???

I hope I am posting this in the right place and I did not miss another post that already addressed this issue. Sorry in advance if so.

I got a e815 early sept from verizon. I love it except....After a week I noticed that it would reboot about 1/10 text messages I recieve. The text message alert comes on the screen, then I press the view button and it freezes...a few seconds later it shuts down and reboots. At this point I can go into the messages folder and view the message with no problem.

I did the *228 and had the local store update the software with no improvement. To make a long story short...I am on my 5th phone and 3rd battery in 5 months and all of the phones are having the same issue. The only thing that has been the same are the battery cover and the network. I have spoken with 3rd level tech support at 611 and they say that there is no issue with the network, and I have just recieved "a few bad phones". LOL. Occasionally the phone also freezes when I get a new voicemail and press the Listen softkey.

I am getting really frustrated. The only phone that they are willing to replace it with (other then the same model) is an LG 8100. I use my phone for work and the blinking LED's on the front of the phone will not work for me not to mention I feel that the LG looks like a kids phone.

Any suggestions of...

How to fix the phone?

or

How to get Verizon to switch the phone for a phone that looks professional and works well. (not an lg 8100)

Hey ... not really a tip .. but im having the same issue ... im on my 3rd e815 right now .. and again they are telling me to update the software & try it out ..
also not sure if yours does some of the other things mine does ... some of the text messages dont say who they are from, and i have no way of finding out (no # listed and cant reply) Which gets real annoying especially when rcving the first text from someone and having to guess at who it was.
Also ... when the phone does do the reboot it tends to delete 15-30 of my text messages unless they are locked.

i've come to the conclusion that this is a problem not specifically w/ the e815 but with the motorola software related to text messaging. When i do not text anyone for a while(multiple days), the issue stops. i have a friend w/ a 710 i think and a different carrier who experiences the same issues.

That is the answer I didn't want to hear but I was affraid of. I don't have issues as bad as yours (deleted messages). Maybe I will just switch to the LG 8100 out of frustration. Any major issues with that phone?

none that i know of, but i dont think im the one to answer that question .. i havent even touched the 8100 ..

I have the rebooting problem too... mine also reboots every time I plug it into the charger. Also, mine doesn't delete the texts, it always resends like 3-5 of the ones in my outbox, even if they are days old, so people get random messages that make no sends every time my phone resets.

I have the problem with the no number showing on texts, and that only happens from cricket phones for me.

I hate this phone with a passion. It really sucks, and Verizon said they may replace it with the lg 8100 or the samsung 950 next time if it does it again.

I just realized that the replacement phones that verizon is offering are not comperable...lower battery time, and they do not have vcast. I guess I will just become a serial returner until they decide to give me a phone that works with the same features.

Yes i've had the same issue also w/ the old texts resending themselves. what happens with me is that when i send the text, the phone tells me it hasnt been sent ... even though it has been sent (verified by recipient) and then when the phone reboots itself it will resend the messages.

Also I do know that one of the people i get most of my messages from and has the no number issue does have cricket. I've recieved texts from other people without the number, but i dont know what carrier they have.

Just got another FRU today and it did it too. Called Verizon and they sent me to a store and I got an LG8100. Oh well, I can do pretty much the same stuff with it and I have not seen near the amount of reliability issues.

FYI, the tech at the store had the e815 and she said she is on her 8th one, and Verizon will not let her exchange it cuz she is an employee. She has the same issues as me and everyone else.
