Ok, heres my question:
I hear there is an actual menu option in the s55 to change the 'operator logo' to whatever (certain size) logo you want? Is this true? If so, we should be able to use a transparent one, and have nothing there. Other phones such as my old 7210 didnt have this option, but if i downloaded a clear logo via wap, it would save it as a clear op logo, but with my newer tmobile sim card, they dont let you replace the tmobile or TMO logo. On the samsung s100 i could get rid of it with a menu option to display time/op logo in standby. So even if i have the newer tmobile 'blocked' sim card, can i use a transparent pic? thanks!

Wow, didn't know you can remove op logos! What other phones can do this?

Sure you can. A transparent 1x1 GIF gets rid of the operator logo, so you can see the whole wallpaper instead. Use this GIF.
Can't compare to Nokia, coz they have always been 10 years behind Siemens when it comes to logo options. Paying for a logo is ridicious...

If you have the newer t-mobile sim card you are SOL. I aksed one of the geekier t-mobile sales guys last night and he said that since t-mobile moved to version 3 of their sim cards in the U.S. you are out of luck. He had heard of people using a friends older voicestream era sim card in the phone, changing the logo, then re-inserting the new card and the logo stayed away. I don't know anyone with an older sim card so I cannot verify this but my gut reaction was that it would not work since the operator logo is hard programmed into the sim, which I guess would overwrite whatever changes you made. Someone whith an old voicestream era sim please try this and tell us if it works.
