Problem with lockline/insurance replacement

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Well despite having issues before i kept my samsung p207, then last night it got watered damaged and no longer works. so i called lock line since i have insurance and they want to send me an e317 as a replacement. The lady told me it had the same features, but i didn't think so , so i asked to check it out then call them back.

I don't think the e317 is a fair replacement! First the e317 came out in Q3 of 2004 and the p207 in mid 2005. Second the screen is smaller and only 65k colors compared to 262k. Also, no speech to text (even though i didn't use it often). I could go on but you get the idea.

Basically what I'm asking is if anyone has had a similar experience with insurance, and if arguing with them will get me anywhere closer to a more fair replacement. I'm not looking to take advantage of them here I just don't think its a fair trade

search for the word insurance and you will come up with 100 threads about people who have the same problem you do, with similar or different phones

I've had nothing but great experiences with Lockline. As I was reading this I was on hold waiting for approval for a replacement v3. They've sent me 2 black v3s to replace the one that had water damage, and then the second one which was stolen.

Then on another line for my mother she had a Sony Ericsson T637, and after that was damaged they sent her a v220, which I didn't think was compatible, so I called and told them, and they ended up sending her a Nokia 6620!

My advice is to call and tell them you don't think the phone is compatible, and say you'd like something different.

Lockline is soooooo dreamy! <3<3

Great advice if only it worked! I called Lockline the other day to have my phone replaced and they gave me the same crap. The only phone they offered was a refurbed V551, and they gave me no other options. Call Cingular CS and tell them that you're unhappy with lockline and they should be willing to work something out with you, it worked for me.

Bad advice on your part. Even if you scream at Cingular CS there is very little they can do if you are unhappy with a Lockline replacement. If you are very lucky it might make a difference but highly unlikely. Cingular CS cannot override decisions by Lockline.

Actually it's not bad advice, they were more then willing to work with me. Even though I'm not eligible for an upgrade for 10 more months, they will allow me to upgrade to any phone on top of a small discount for my troubles. The two people that I spoke with said they knew of the issues customers are having with lockline and are trying to compensate customers somehow if they are not happy with the replacement lockline offers. I'm going to wait for the 8125 to get released and then I'm going to take then up on their offer.

I'd probably take a v551 refurb over a e317 get bluetooth at least, but thanks for the advice i'll post after i call them later with the resolve.

There is a lawsuit brewing for lock/line's practices. It has nothing to do with overcharging but deceptive trade parctices.

When they decide to send you a refurbished phone for the near new one that you had lost. That is not sending you a comparable phone. I had a P207 that they replaced with a v551. They claim comparable, they are both camera phones...

The V551 is a different make, weighs more, worse battery life, no voicestream, etc.. it is the eqivelant of having your wrecked Lexus being replaced by a Toyota.

The biggest claim in the upcoming suit is that when the charge you your deductable you are being overcharged for the phone since you are getting a refurbished unit.

My bad advice netted me an 8125 for $220, and considering I wasn't eligible for an upgrade I think I got a pretty good deal. So for those of you who have issues with Lockline, call Cingular and see what they can do.

The suit's aim for damages is to get all deductibles and premiums refunded to affected consumers.

There was never a problem when the insurance claims were handled at the store level. You go to store pick from a range of comparable models and choose the new one you liked. When the company started to send out the refurbs is when problems started. That and when customers who had the insurance upgraded to the RAZRs and weren't told that those phones weren't covered equiptment.....

I just want to see, once and for all, the Cell phone makers free to sell the unbranded unlocked phones here. Divorce the Providers from the makers and let us make the final decision.
