noob with flash/flex for v600

i currently have a 1-2 year old v600 locked with tmobile with TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.3AR_A and i was wondering if i should use a monster pack or reflash or rather where should i start? its been very slow with dropped calls and this is my first time modding it. i have a data cable as well. any help would be appreciated
