Warranty Check?

Does anybody know how to read the warranty code on Motorola phones? My v262 is broken and I don't want to bother to send it in if I'm going to have to pay. I bought it used on Ebay, so I have no idea when it was purchased.

The only thing I have to go on is the date code, which is 1705. I'm guessing that's either 1/7/05 in which case it's out of warranty. Or it's the 17th week of 05, in which case it still is.

Thanks!

that doesnt sound like a motorola date code.

You can email motorola and ask them if the phone is still under warranty. You have to give them your IMEI and or the serial number. However they will not honor the warranty if you don't have the original recipt and since you bought it from e-bay, you are out of luck.

not having a receipt is not a problem, just make one, i do all the time. i had to send my v635 in to motorola, and they needed a receipt so i just made one up from amazon. they dont verify if it is real or not, just want to see it.

i used microsoft word to mock one up

I sent them an email to see if they can tell me the warranty status. According to their site if you don't have a receipt they will determine warranty status by data of manufacture.

It could be the 1705 date code was put there by the carrier, not Motorola.
