Tethering T809 to Palm Zire 72 for web browsing

Trying to tether my Palm Zire 72 to my T809 for web browsing.
The phone recognizes the Palm as a device.
The Palm recognizes the phone as a device.
I go to Prefs, Connection, New, but when I "tap to find" it does not see it.

What am I doing wrong?

Well, I got it working but am I being charged for browsing the web with my 5.99 t-zones on my Palm?

You shouldn't be if you put in the correct parameters for the T-MobileWeb settings and not the internet2/internet3 settings.

I tether my laptop with my T809 using the USB cable that came with the phone and only have the same $5.99 T-MobileWeb on my account. I looked all over my last bill to make sure and there is no listing of my Data usage on my bill like Cingular does with their MEdia Works or unlimited laptop/data connect plans.

By the way, what were the steps or settings you used to connect it as I have a Zire 72 and Tungsten T3 that I'd like to use with my T809 as well?

Here's how I did it.

Pretty sure I'm not getting Edge speeds though.

Pair your Palm OS device to your cell phone. If you cannot find your phone in the list, you need to download and install the Phone Link Update v3 from the Palm website. It contains drivers for most GPRS/EDGE phones.

Set as authorized.

Preferences> Connection> New>

Name: Any name you want

Connect to: Phone

Via: Bluetooth

Device: Your Phone

Model: Standard GSM

Details>

Speed: 115,200bps

Init String: Please see US Carrier Discussion threads for Init Strings specific to your carrier. For T-Mobile subscribers, see this post for details

Preferences>Network>New

Password: put space <do not leave blank>

Connection: <choose the Connection Name you made>

Phone: *99#

Details>

Connection Type: PPP

Idle Timeout: Never

Query DNS: <checked>

IP Address: Automatic <checked>

Script:

<End>

Enable the Bluetooth on your Palm OS device and your phone. Tap <Connect>

Your Palm PDA is now tethered to your Phone.

Open your Palm OS browser. Be sure to enter the proxy settings in your browser if you subscribe the $5.99 T-Mobile Web. Otherwise, you can now surf the Internet.

I would love to tether my T809 to my laptop. Can you post the instructions on how to do that please?

Basically the same way you mention above by creating a Bluetooth DUN or by just simply using the PC Studio 3 software to create an internet connection. I was going to try using bluetooth, but decided to use the USB data cable since it also keeps the phone charged.

After I started tethering my T809 to my Palm something weird started happening. I would harge it overnight and within a half hour (no matter how little I talked) My battery was almost dead. Any ideas why?

No idea. Some people have issues with the battery life on some of their Samsungs.
