Newbie 6102 question - cable???

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'd like to use Nokia PC Suite with my 6102 but don't know if I really want to spend $50 for a cable. Unfortunately it doesn't have Bluetooth and my desktop doesn't have IR. How do I get IR on my desktop safely? Can I sync with Outlook?

HELP! I only have 30 days to return this phone.

I bought a usb irda adapter from newegg.com and it works great transferring pic, tones, etc. with PC Suite. There are many other places online, including ebay, that you can buy a usb irda adapter from. Just be sure to look at customer ratings and comments before you buy. As with anything, you get what you pay for. You should be able to get the adapter easily under $20 shipped to you.

I haven't tried it, but I think you can sync with Outlook with PC Suite.

Much appreciated. I have used NewEgg before and will order from them.

Glad to help.
When you get your IR adapter you may want to go the manufacturers website and download the latest driver for it. You can also get the driver from the chipset manufacturer. If you need any help let us know.

I got a Razr. Bluetooth is much easier to handle and the phone now fits in my back pocket. Thanks for the info in case my next phone is a Nokia!
