My SLVR L7 won't let me assign MP3 ringtones off my card! HELP

The darn phone will only set ringtones with mp3s in phone memory, not card memory. Has this been solved yet? I would like to take advantage of the 256mb of mp3s on my card rather than being restricted to the miniscule 10mb on the phone.
Please help. Be nice if this is old news.. I searched and still couldn't find the solution.

I don't think this has been done. The most you can do is install a game from the tflash. BTW, why set a whole MP3 as a ringtone? It would go to voicemail before the MP3 is even 1/4 through the song.

Just got the SLVR L7 and haven't tried this, but I'm fresh off a Moto V635 and can confirm that phone also WILL NOT allow you to set a mp3 ringtone off the card. I think it's a limitation in the Moto software.

I know that it goes to voicemail before the whole song is played. I am splicing up songs to get the most important part into the ringtone. However it would be nice to have these files stored in the less limiting card instead of the phone.

Ok this might be a little O.T. but I also notice that you can't install Java games from memory card to phone, when you "install new" and it will ask you if you want to download it, once it click yes, it will only install the game into the memory card, it does not giving me a option to install to phone memory or memory card like my Rokr does.

The reason you can't assign ringtones from the memory card is that it's hot-swappable. As such, the phone can't count on the ringtone file being available if it's on the memory card. It would confuse the programming if it tried to play a ringtone that was unavailable. Rather than deal with that big mess, Motorola just set it so the ringtones had to be on the phone. Personally, I think having the ability to remove the memory card without having to reset the phone and ringtones every time is a fair trade.
