2125 Stuck on Reading Settings in Active Sync

Bought a new 2125 from Cingular.

I have installed 4.1 Activesync and am trying to sync w/ my phone but having no success.

I plug it in - it shows connecting - comes up as 2125 and then sits there with the little screen saying "Reading Settings" or Receiving Settings. Nothing else happens.

I have tried:

- Uninstalling / reinstalling Active sync
- Going through the AS troubleshooter
- Searching this forum and others
- Searching Google and MSDN
- Checking logs, adjusting and then disabling my firewall

I can stop the process and see and even browse the phone. I see a windows mobile network connection in device manager. I just can't complete the sync so I can install software.

The phone does work perfectly w/ my company's Exchange server w/ over the air Activesync. I also deleted this account setup thinking it might be interfering w/ things - but that made no difference either.

Anything else I can check?

How long did you leave it on for? I know that when I sync my qtek 9100 for the first time it sat on reading data and than processing for the longest time. I thought I was doing something wrong too, but I just left it on my computer and than when I came back a hour later, it was done. The next time I sync'd it was a lot faster.

Also you can try to delete the device on active sync and retry connecting the device again as a new device.

Do you have any VPN software installed or anything else that shims the TCP/IP stack? If so disable it and see if that helps. On my first sync attempt my Cisco VPN client and my web-filtering program were both preventing ActiveSync4.1 from connecting to my new Cingular 2125 (WM5) but my old MPX220 (WM2003) would still connect fine. It has to do with how WM5 connects differently and actually gets assigned an IP address rather than proxying through the host system.

Yeah, check the ActiveSync website for details on how to get it to work with various firewall and VPN software. I was unable to get it to work and gave up. I'm using Bluetooth Activesync and that works fine for me.
