Hi,
I own 6 LG phones, VX6100's, VX8100's and a VX9800.
We just switched them all around at Christmas. My daughter got one of my sons' VX6100's. Everything was OK for the past month. There were already some games and ringtones on it from him. She added pics and another game or two.
Yesterday she started the game "Gauntlet" (one that was already on there from him). The phone froze. I took the battery out, put it back, tried again, and then only the keypad lit up, the Verizon screen came on for about 2 seconds, then went black, but the keypad stayed lit. I repeated this about 50 times, still the same.
I thought maybe between his games, hers, pics, etc., the phone might be out of memory. I figured I'd back it up and then delete some stuff w/BitPim.
This is what I get from BitPim (it does see the phone) when trying to get any phone data:

Little update...
I took the battery out for the umpteenth time, and now I have a flashing changing error message. Below is a pic of it, plus a link to a movie clip so anyone who is interested (anyone...please!!!) can see the message changing.

Hopefully it keeps on displaying the error from now until I can get to a Verizon store (about 2 more hours!!!).
I still can't believe I'm TWO WEEKS outside of the stinking warranty

Well, got it taken care of.
The tech at the store looked up my account and for some reason he saw January 28, 2005. He asked his supervisor, who allowed him to offer me two "options". One was to pay $1.99/month to extend the warranty for a few more months, which would allow me to receive a refurb within the next two days. Second option was to pay $5.99/month for insurance which would allow me to pay a $50.00 deductible to also receive a refub. Ummmm, choice number one...?
Well, I thought that was kind of nice. Unexpected too.
He said that he has seen that kind of error when downloaded games have viruses. I don't know tho. I mentioned it to my son (whose phone it was first). He reminded me that I backed up his the entire filesystem w/his info before giving the phone to my daughter. That wouldn't my anti-virus software have found it on my laptop? I don't know, I kind of think it might have been out of memory. Too many games, too many ringtones, pics, etc.
Whatever!

Downloaded through GIN with a virus? That doesn't sound very likely. BTW, your PC's antivirus software probably wouldn't pick up a cell phone virus being that it isn't set up to scan the same types of software as your phone.
