6682 owners, I need your help.

I've had a lot of propblems with my 6682, and have gone through a few of them.

However, this one does something that I didn't notice on the others, and just wanted to make sure it was normal.

When the phone goes into screensaver mode, with the dark screen with the clock and date, when you push a button to come back to the regular screen, what color does the screensaver clock turn before the regular screen comes back?

Mine will be different all the time, sometimes red, sometimes green, sometimes blue.

Is this how it's supposed to be?

Am sure it's based on the theme that you're using. Presently I have the n90 theme, and from screen saver mode to normal use it will just show a "blueish" wallpaper screen...

Not the wallpaper, the actual clock and date from the screen saver. The bar it's in will turn a color just as the screen is coming back on.

...sorry! Whatever colour it is at the time, before I press a key, it will stay that colour. For example, during the screen saver process, as it moves up/down the screen, it changes colour (Red, Blue, those are the colours I've seen so far). Once you press a button, whatever was the LAST colour of the date/time it will remain that way...

OK, I didn't realize it changed color, and was just making sure that there wasn't something screwy with this phone.

Also, it sometimes seems that the white screens, such as the text message screens appear to be off white, sometimes darker than others. Sometimes the screen looks white, sometimes it looks cream colored. I think my eyes are playing tricks on me, but is your screen bright white or more cream colored?

Edit, I think what the problem is is that the screen is somewhat reflective, and the screen appears to change color when the color of your surroundings change.

I'm just concerned because I don't want this phone to have a problem since I've gone through so many.

the screen is also changing its brightness automatically using that eye in the top left. I don't know the technical terms because i am dumb . I think that is why it may appear cream sometimes. You can also change the overall brightness of the phone in the options.

i have not noticed this on my 6682.

BTW, there is also green.

v 3.01.1

nokia 6682

i had a few prob. till i got a 3g sim. now everthing is fine.

Posted by: rader023

I have 3.01.1 and always had sim contacts/ log issues till about a month ago, and hasnt happened since! since i am saying this i think the problem will come back shortly

Posted by: tendura

I haven't had this issue with my new one but my old one did it.

Posted by: harlenm

OK, sorry the pictures are fuzzy, but this isn't easy to do.

Posted by: naviwilliams

...oh look, you have a text message! LOL

ps: why are the photos "fuzzy"?

Posted by: harlenm

Because I'm pressing a button on the phone to turn on the screen at the same time as I'm trying to snap a picture. The phone moves slightly when i push the button on the phone, plus since I'm only holding the camera with one hand I'm not that steady.

Also, it's not easy to focus on the phone. My camera doesn't do Macro good.

...I understand, it was really a rhetorical question, but thanks nonetheless.

But still, the point of this thread is do other peoples phones do this? Is this a 4.62 thing that doesn't appear on 3.01?

Posted by: naviwilliams

...my firmware is 4.62, but I could have sworn it was the same on 3.0.1.
In addition, a mobile is a mobile, and certain things are "just" as they are. I don't think I've even owned a "perfect" mobile. I've been using them since '97, or there about...

This is off topic, but is it even worth getting a 6682 with all the problems they've been having? I would like to try one to see how the RF improves but I've read here that there have been a lot of problems.

Sorry, but I'm not about to go through the 80+ pages of the 6682 thread we have to find this answer.

The 6682 is truly outstanding, except for all the problems.

My 7610b had the different color clocks.

Posted by: OnlyOneSpiffy

my phone changes colors too. it's nothing to worry about.

I have the exact same, on an old 32k SIM from 2004. Is it worth upgrading the firmware or SIM to a 3G? My motto is 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'... this thing runs like a peach right now right out of the box from the factory (got it 09/05), but if it could be even better somehow, I'd be interested.

P.s.: ban sfufan3.

i might add that the proublms were caused by a 64k sim. my other 6682 has the older 32k sim, and has never had any proublms.

Posted by: rader023

I have 64K sim and no problems for about a month, no idea why though.

Posted by: chonga

i have 3.01 and a 64k sim and not one single problem at all

no call log problems, no sim contacts problems, no retarts, no white screens

its been nothing short of amazing... very fast menu's, no lock-ups, love it.

Posted by: speed4tu

I had all the typical problems with the 3.01 with both 64k sim and the 3g sim. Just recieved a 4.62 upgraded phone today and it works flawlessly. Faster menus and no sim contacts problems, and no lost dialed calls! I am extremely satisfied with the 6682, even the one with the problems. Think i got the first one around september or so.

If you take notice, the keys will only light up when the surrounding light gets low.
