Razr V3 Editing Gain Table question

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: chr0n1kal_ex

I bought a HS850 for my Razr and whenever I talk to someone on it, I can hear them fine, but they can barely hear me. They claim I sound far away/too low.

I changed my earpiece in gain table on my p2ktools to max (8) and there is no really big change. Is there anything I'm doing wrong or any other way to solve this? thanks.

if they can't hear you, try changing the mic gain for the headset. it is in the gain table at offset 238. per xlr8's recent guide the stock setting is 08 and the recommended setting is 1B.

Do this via usb with my v3 right? And what program is this on? I am using p2k and i cant find "mic gain"

thanks

Use P2KTools:

Open Pk2tools click the (connect) button, at the bottom of the screen it should say conected and next to it there is a (Red) circle. It should now be (Green).

1. Click tools at the top of the screen and go to Gain table.
2. Click (Get) to show your current settings.
3. Adjust the settings as you wish. I suggest nothing higher then 4.
4. Now click on the (Set) to set it up in your phone.
5. Done!!
Now hit the restart botton at the top afer you phone restarts disconect, The changes you have done will be applied.

does P2K Tools have a setting for the headset mic level? Don't have it in front of me now to check. If not, down load your gain_table.bin using P2K Manager. Use XV132 or a similar hex editor to change the setting at offset 238 to 1B, save the file and then use P2K Manager to upload it back to the phone.

djdownhill, I did that but there isnt no setting for "mic gain".

sstroud, I'm using p2k manager and cant find the gain_table.bin. I dl'd XV132 but I'm not quite sure how to use it ><. Where do I go to find offset 238 ? Sorry I am pretty dumb at this kinda stuff. Thank you for your helping efforts

EDIT: Doh didnt see the gain_table under a:/ . Ok I found it and downloaded it. I uploaded it with XVI32 but i dont see offset "238" or whatever.

I'm lost at this point: (pic) http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/7277/hex0ch.jpg

the offsets are listed in the left column just outside of the main table. The first square in the table is offset 00, shown as Adr, hex 0 at the bottom left of the screen. As you move through the table the Adr hex will show you the exact offset that you are on. Use the slider on the right of the screen and move down til something close to 238 appears in the left most (offset) column. Then move from there to the square that shows at 238, it's value should now be 08. Type in 1B and then save the file. Upload it to the phone and restart.

No clue what you are talking about, but if you look at the pic I provided in my previous post, does it mean that I have to change all the "08"'s in column "23A" to 1B?

Posted by: sstroud

in your example, 238 is 2nd from the end of the row that starts at 21C (notice the value there is 08, change to 1B)

Open the gain and hit control-G type in the number you want it will take you directly to it, then set your value.

Like this? http://img54.imageshack.us/img54/6128/hex1b5cx.jpg

Sorry, I'm just a little paranoid about breaking my phone or whatever, so I wanna make sure I do it correctly.

I feel like I'm very close to solving this =(

In XVI32, look at the bottom left hand corner of the screen. You'll notice a number next to "Adr. hex"...this is the 'offset' number. Keep scrolling through the numbers in the HEX side (on the left, not the right) until you come across Adr. hex 238 (they go in order). Hope that helps.

Finally, this problem is resolved! I had this headset for about 2 months and couldn't use it until today! Everyone I talk to on it now can hear me perfect, thank all you guys who helped! =)

Start xv132 then load seem 0032....if you type "cntrl"-G it will open up a table for you...enter the hex that you want...it will go directly to it...then if you need to edit the bits look in the header and hit tools and then bit manipulator....once you set your settings hit set and when you are through with all the seems that you will edit hit the save button....after that reload it to your phone via 0032-0001 and your off and running...
