My purpose in unbranding phone was to be able to use my home wi-fi to surf the web and to also sync my phone to my PC...both without Verizon tracking and charging me. Will what I did work? Or does setting up that modem connection somehow allow Verizon to charge me for moving data around again? I'm new to this, so would appreciate any help you can offer. |

You will however be charged for your internet usage (so best to have a plan) and you will be charged for MMS messages unless you have a plan for that as well. All the unbranding does is eliminate some of the junkware that is loaded on the phone. This can be further enhanced in terms of speed and memory use by running one of the unofficial AKU's (I run sarinour's AKU 3.5)
Why would you think that you would get charged for WIFI? |

I got a huge bill after that and was surprised....when I called Verizon they said that any data moved/loaded on phone, including syncing or being on web even if I'm using my wireless and not their network, is trackable and charged to my account. I have text msg package to include MMS so that is covered. I don't currently have a monthly data plan though. So that's why I was wondering if Verizon could track my web usage or when I move data between my phone and computer.

This is annoying because people often hang up before I can answer. Is this normal? If so, is there anyway to fix it? I tried calling other cell phones and they start ringing after only one ring.
Thanks a lot!! |

if anyone has a new (2008), updated or addition(s) to the tips, tricks & hacks for this???
|
Now for what you do to solve your problem with connecting on accident to EVDO 1) go to START>Setting>Connections>Connections>Manage Existing Connections> 2) push and hold on top of data network until the option delete pops up 3) delete it NO MORE EVDO |

Does this mean that my phone will NEVER connect via verizons internet servers again? I don't have a data plan and I did this in hopes that it won't connect (sometimes it does it on accident), so that I won't get billed. Thanks, Shawn |

WHEN MY PHONE RINGS: FIRST: I try to answer through my BT headset. I can hear it ringing in the earpiece but about 80% of the time it doesn't answer. The other 20% when it does answer there's a considerable lag time from the time I press till the time I can communicate with the caller. 80% OF THE TIME WHEN IT DOESN'T ANSWER: I attempt to answer by simply pressing the ANSWER button on the screen and nothing happens as the call goes right to voicemail. THE 20% IT DOES ANSWER, it goes directly to speaker phone while the headset option is grayed out. That forces me to talk on the handset itself. IN ADDITION- The incoming call screen stays up while Im talking and when I end the call it comes up as a missed call. I'm thinking it could have something to do with the Motorola BT ear piece. Anyone else having this issue or any suggestions about debugging?? |
