Can't Change mma menu file on Cingular SLVR L7

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

i was able to download the mma_ucp and dcp off of my L7 with p2k commander, however when i open the mma's with XVI, it doesn't recognize the file correctly. The only menu option i get is "Messages"... any thoughts?

open it with p2k tools 0.8.6 instead. I did it last night

personally, i wouldn't be messing around with the cingular one until there is a way to backup the flash...that is unless you don't want the cingular branding and itunes. if you somehow mess things up and need to flash the sucker with something else you'll be sol on the itunes. you may run into a problem getting replacement under warranty from cingular, too, since you've been messing with it.

how were you able to get the menu items from using p2ktools? i only get hellomoto off the menu details in p2ktools. mma files works for me using XV132

when you are in pk2 commander, click on the mma file and select "copy", on the right side (your computers hard drive), slect "view", this pastes the file on your hard drive. Then go into p2k tools, slect the seem icon, and choose "load file". Then select the mma file and it will load and you can see the menu items.

Okay, i am able to connect to the phone in p2k mode with p2k commander, but when i open the mma_ucp file in P2K Menu Editor, the only item thats comes up is "messages". I opened the mma_ucp in XVI and p2k seem editor and tried changing the the menu by changng the seems, but when i upload it to the phone, it's looks nothing like what i changed! Is there a way to edit the mma_ucp the same way p2k menu editor does? i am so frustrated of looking at the cingular mall crap.

I wonder if perhaps your L7 has the same menu file format as the V557 and V360. That is, the record sizes have changed. And you probably have a "dynamic" file as well. There's already a thread on that.

max.wiz is working on a new version of p2kmenu editor to handle this new format, but since he's lost his source code he's got a bit of work ahead of him.

In other words, it's HIGHLY unlikely that ANY of the currently released p2k programs out there can handle the new file format.
