Hello, New guy on the block. I just ordered the 7100i today, and will pick it up tomorrow. I'm replacing my crappy Motorola i305 and can't wait to get going with my new gizmo.
Could you folks list some of your favorite BB programs? I'm a die hard Mac fanatic and have already D/L'ed PocketMac.
Are the GPS extras worth it? I'm considering TeleNav, but there are others, such as Trimble Outdoors and Mapquest Find-it. Anyone have any details or experience with these services? Perhaps a link that explains the differences between them better than Nextel's website? Thanks.

First of all, welcome to the world of blackberry!!!
There's tons of third party apps, check out www.handango.com as that will give you a pretty good idea of whats out there. Also check out www.blackberryforums.com, the Third Party Apps section, as thats all discussion of such applications. It really depends on what you're looking for. The past two years has seen a huge boom of blackberry specific apps....
As for GPS apps, I haven't tried any others but Telenav, but it is an EXCELLENT program in my opinion. Definitely worth the money!
PS--where in Northern MI--Da UP, eh? Or northern lower MI. I grew up in E. Lansing, have family in Lansing, DeWitt, Grand Rapids, Kzoo, Rogers City..... Was just up in Rogers City and Mackinaw City this past summer for a week or so! Gotta love MI!!!!

I have been testing Telenav on the free month. I would have been lost trying to find a couple of places if it were not for Telenav. I am very pleased with it.

Well, I picked up my BB today and am now having some fun getting it set up. I think I'm feeling the addiction taking hold.
I didn't realize there were so many commercial programs available.
Also thanks for the info on TeleNav. I will probably go with this service for now.
Again, Thanks!

Wirelessly posted (your electric?: BlackBerry7100i/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/103 UP.Browser/5.0.3.3 UP.Link/5.1.2.16)
I use TeleNav (work gives it to is free), however if it weren't free I wouldn't buy it. I find it to lag a lot and sucks with freeway driving. But its also a life saver with turn by turn instructions. pink

I have Trimble on my 7520 and use it for navigating while backpacking. It's really something else - you get free mapping software for your PC that lets you use topo, street, and aerial photo maps to plan a trip and then you can send the trip to the BB. It's really great for navigating off road. Telenav is super on road. I knoe of some people using Trimble for geocaching too on the BB.
