I've noticed the battery life on my V551 has been horrible lately. I eventually figured out the cause is the inside screen backlight has been staying on while the phone is closed. Looking through the gap in the phone I can see the white backlight on, but the keypad backlight is off and the screen appears to be just blank white.

This occurs randomly, and I am unable get the light to stay on intentionally by opening/closing it. And as soon as I open the phone and close it, the light shuts off. But of course I usually don't notice it's on until the battery is halfway dead.

Also, occasionally when opening the phone, the screen will just go completely blank (like the phone was off - including the display on the outside of the phone). About 10 seconds later the backlight on the screen will come up blank white, and then a few seconds later the screen on the phone will display properly. I'm not sure if this problem is related to the one above or not.

I flashed my phone to the latest version (8.18.40R) but it did not help. I searched on this site to see if anyone else had had this problem, but could not find anything (at least for my model phone).

Anyone have any ideas? This really annoying me.

check the button near the hinges to see that it closes properly.. other than that i would have no idea.

The little button seems to be functioning correctly. As I said, the actual display on the screen and keypad backlights are off even while the problem is occurring.
