903SH Voice Dialing and Fido Email?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I bought a 903SH with hybrid firmware from Taiwan recently. However, I noticed that there's no function for voice dialing? Can anybody confirm this?

On another note, I'm not able to get my email settings to work properly with my fido email account or with my shaw pop3 account. Is anyone able to help with this?

Thanks in advance!

I don't believe there's voice dialing on the 903? I could be wrong though

I think the best way to get email working is to get the new opera mini and check your email through wap browsing.

Fido email is just a SMS forwarding service I believe? You make a blank sms, type "mail" (all small caps), add a space followed by the email address, followed by the subject of the email in brackets (re: fido email) then add another space and write the body of the email. When you are done you send the message to 003436. It should work. I think its pretty inconvenient to use

i concur. no voice dialing. as for email, try any wap mail.

GMAIL or HOTMAIL will work just fine to name a few. Hotmail being slightly more mobile friendly.

Thanks for your quick replies!

It's too bad about the voice dialing - it's probably one of the most useful features I find in a cel phone while driving.

Sigh - I guess I'm stuck to WAP browsing for e-mail which really sucks as it's so expensive to browse with Fido. I was hoping that there would be some way to set up a POP3 account so that I can access the mail directly instead of going through the browser.

If I switched to Rogers, would I have the same problems?

Thanks for all your help!

I agree, Fido's GPRS charges are pretty expensive. But so are Rogers data plans, so you're pretty much stuck up here in Canada. You could find someone who has an unlimited data account and see if they're willing to sell it to you?

I think you can also set up email forwarding to your Fido by ##########@teleflip.com (#= your phone number + area code). It should allow you to receive truncated versions of your email in SMS form. Teleflip is a pretty good service for this. But be careful you'll be paying SMS fee's unless you're on a plan.
