8910 Won't Power On

So my Audiovox 8910 ran out of batteries, so I plugged it in to charge up.

When I plugged it in to charge, the green light on the flip-top is lit. Nothing is displayed on the sub-LCD showing that it's charging. Nothing on the main screen, either.

When I hold the hang-up button to turn it on, nothing happens.

Is my screen dead? I hear no start up noise either.

I'm pretty sure it's not a battery problem, because even when it's not charging, the power-on button just lights the green light on the flip top.

Any suggestions?

pull out the battery.

Tried removing and re-seating the battery. Nothing works. Still won't power on. I left it charging over-night, so it should have plenty of charge.

Still nothing but a green light when I try to press the power button.

I had the exact same thing happen to my 8910. I tried absolutely everything I could to get it to work, but still just the green light. Tried new battery, new charger. Nothing. I gave up on it and declared it dead.

Phones dead. Happened to me 3 times with that POS phone. I tried returning it today and VZW wouldn't accept it, told me I had to buy a new phone.

My fiancee's just did this... We'd really, really like to get it working again, any ideas? Tried the battery and everything.

You could try this, Take the faceplate off and see if the plug that is at where it flips in all the way. I had a phone that was charging funny and I took it apart and noticed the plug wasnt in all the way.. Unplug it and put it back in.. Im not saying it will work but it fixed mine.

This happend to the 8910's all of the time. it is a software crash. there is nothing that can be done to bring it back

Ha, thanks, for your input, Mr. 4 posts. The 8910 has no known software issues that would cause this. However, the solder connections on the charge ports of these phones have a tendency to come loose. If your phone is under a year old and is not damaged in any other way, it should be covered under your manufacturer’s warranty. Whether it is in or out of warranty, I would advise you to call your service provider to see what options they give you to get your issue remedied. If it is beyond a year old or if you can not prove the warranty status of your phone, take note not to send it to Audiovox. They charge a flat $100 plus parts for out of warranty repairs. However, most service providers can give you good options to remedy your issue. Some companies will just swap out your phone with another one.
