Anyone have advice about using an unlocked Sharp while visiting HK and China? What settings need to be changed? Are there any 3G pre-paids? 2G SIM OK?

Currently there is no 3G in China until The Beijing olympics (2008), 2G works but apperantly you are only able to use China Unicom instead of China Mobile (the latter has much better rf, but doesnt work in Sharp 3G phones).. Hong kong I dont know.

In Hong Kong, there is 3G prepaid, its pretty nice, the started kit is just about 100 dollar in hk dollars, but i am not sure about the minutes, they can be brough directly from carrier's dealers that is every where, or u can get them in convenion stores which are also every where in hong kong,
2G prepaid also works, cause you 903 had to be unlocked. u would love the 3G network in hong kong itz awsome

TQ people, for helpful comments. Which HK carrier has the best deal for GPRS/WAP via a starter pack? Have they got descriptions on a homepage?

Depends on what you need. Last september when I went back I use people but it is only 2G card. $100 credit for 0.25 per minute (even for international call) so I use it to call US and it is still 0.25 hkd per minute. One thing you want to remember, don't pick up your card from MongKok (They usually charge more about 30$ more) or Sin Tat but pick it up in (AB LIU STREET). They sell 100$ cards for only 50$ or something and they carry all the brand too.

Wow, TQ all for lots of good news.

Is it as simple as popping in the other SIM or USIM, then straightaway showtime? Do any settings have to be manually changed?

I don't recognize the name of that area. Is it the same as Ap Lei Chau on the south point of Central HK island?

it won't be indefinitely. I will work very hard to free us from the communists.

hong kong isn't really a part of china they are a "special economic zone" lol so it is more like pseudo china and you can't get high quality knockoffs as easily as in other parts of china ahh the memories...

Which 3G carrier for Sharp is used by the Malay aborigines of Taiwan, who owned it before anybody else posed claims?
