Javascript on a 7100i?

My roommate just [very unneededly] went out and got a 7100i. Now, of course, he has absolutely no idea how to use the thing, so I'm supposed to figure all these things out for him.
He can connect to the Blackberry.com page and most others using javascript, but when he tried to check his school e-mail, he keeps getting a javascript error.
The site in question is lconnect.wit.edu. I'm trying to find out if they've just got simple SMTP/POP3 access, but somehow I doubt it.
The error page that comes up mentions javascript not being turned on (which isn't the case) or using a browser that doesn't support javascript (also not the case). I'm thinking that maybe the site does a browser check and that the Blackberry browser (even when emulating IE) isn't recognized and thus the site won't let him in.
Any ideas on what, if anything, can be done to get that to work on his Berry?
