Sharp 903 & Japanese MMF Ringtones

While in Japan, I downloaded (and paid for) some ringtones in mmf format. They worked quite well and were very cute (a few were store theme songs, while others were tv commercial jingles from japan). Now the trouble is that since I've had my phone unlocked & reprogramed to UK software (thanks Timsta!) I can now (sadly) no-longer use them as they appear to be locked.

I've read on the internet of a program called 'Freemmf' which supposedly can unlock the ringtones. My question is, does anyone have this phoenix of a program? If not, where can I get it? I've been searching on Google and even Yahoo for the last few hours and all I can see to find are UK ringtone sites that offer 'free' ringtones that I have to pay for (wtf?) and a bunch of porn and dead links.

I'm NOT doing -ANYTHING- illegal here since I paid for these songs, and can simply no-longer use them. Can anyone out there lend a quick hand, OR can any of you unlock mmf tunes?

Thanks!

Most likely they put a drm on the mmf ringtones, but I never heard of anything like that. I downloaded a few jpn mmf before and it played just fine on my jpn fw. You can try doing a Master Reset, and then re-transfer it again from your mini-sd unless its in the phone memory.

How about sharing them to your fellow 903 users. I have jpn fw! *wink* *wink*

i heard that games you cant play if you use another sim card but restricted mmf cannot be transferred only. the only way you can use them is if you have the mmf on your computer and upload it through a wap site and download it from there.

That's why DRM sucks. Because nonsense like this happens - you pay for tones, the hardware base changes and then you can't use them again, even though you paid for it. It's just so stupid...

Anyway yes, MMF is capable of being encoded with DRM, and in the 903's case they lock up when the SIM is changed. I suspect that when you changed your firmware the phone forgot about the link to it and your SIM card, locking the MMFs again. I'm afraid I don't know how to help you...

Ah just don't want to get my friends at iMobile in trouble if I say something nasty or controversial. Being a journalist and all, can get you (and them) in trouble sometimes
