Mpx220 -sd Card - Write Protected

I spent about 8 hours dancing around trying to format the card. finally done.
then, I activesync it with the pc. On the pc i open up a few folders on the sd card.
i then, tried to transfer a couple of songs to the sd card to see how this works...............NOPE!
that does not work. i get a msg that the card is full.

when i check properties, it says that the card us unknown
0 files and 0 folders

but i can see all the folders on the phone.

I can only assume that the card is write protected. Did anyone come across this problem or can anyone please please help me with this problem ?

step by step (details) would be greatly appreciated. I feel like an idiot with this.
