I was just reading the manual.. lol. and i noticed there was
Captain Tsubasa Road to 2002 the Jump section.. and i was wondering how would i be able to put that into the phone?
I think its considered as a e-book.. but i guess i don't really know anything abuot it.. anybody has any opinions.. and where would i get this manga for my phone?

Aren't there content partner references from the Vodafone live menu? This is the kind of stuff that no-one in this forum would know, as it's Japan specific. Try looking for Sharp Spacetown, they have some e-books (although I don't know about comics) for Sharp phones.

It would be a great idea considering I'm a crazy fan of Japanese anime (Specifically naruto and Bleach).. Too bad I have taiwanese firmware, no e-book feature

But in theory a java applet wouldnt be hard to make? Just an image viewer specifically for cartoons

there's some demo ones in the CD that came with your phone.

It should already be in the bookmarks in your phone.. it was in mine.

If not, the URL is http://j.sst.ne.jp

PC version site is here: http://www.spacetown.ne.jp/dynamic/.../book/index.jsp

Hope you know Japanese well.

Oh also the mobile phone version link above, which complains when accessed from a PC, will work fine from a 903 with Euro firmware, I was just able to confirm. However because of Vodafone Australia's WAP gateway corrupting JP text, I can't browse the website.

Also if you have Euro firmware stay away from buying e-book dictionaries. When I downloaded a free trial version of some dictionaries, the 903 (EU) would display an
'Incompatible.' message whenever I'd try to run them (regular Japanese e-books work fine though).

so the manga/comics are e-books?? i thought you needed some v-application to run it while ur phone network fetches the data online.. well i have some mangas/comics on my pc, and i thought if i could convert to to xmdf or some format like that and put it on the other documents folder it'd work..same goes for .pdf or .doc files?
anyways kaizoku_san, what firmware do you have cuz i have euro and i don't think that demo is on my phone =(

do u 'buy' these e-books?? can't read japanese

Posted by: AL9999

Yes they're e-books. Sharp 3G phones understand text files and XMDF files (in zbf or zbk extension). There are no converters to convert between XMDF and other formats as far as I know, so if you want to use the e-book feature on Sharp phones you'll need to convert to text files using programs readily available on the internet.

And yes, you buy the e-books off Spacetown.

hmmmm.. dya think it's viewable if i have jpeg picture converted to xmdf with that svg-t converter tool?? cuz i tried to put jpeg pix of manga/comics on my phone but 'zooming' them (so i can actually read the words) takes so long.. i even tried resizing the pix to 320x240 but when you zoom, the words are not readable anymore.. *sigh*

Posted by: AL9999

No you can't. Pictures can be embedded in XMDF files using the development tools Sharp gives to e-book makers, but you can't convert them to XMDF files. I would say to use VGA size pictures, put them in one folder, copy the whole folder over to your memory and view them using the slideshow function and zooming in (it takes a bit of time for the high res to come out, but it happens).

I think that's the best way to do it.

wait.. AL, i see what u mean, so i have to go to my pictures folder, pick a picture, zoom it and then press those * or # keys, but when i click those while i'm waiting for the pic to zoom, it goes to the next picture but it's zoomed out again.. maybe i'm doing it wrong..or i'm under the impression that once i pick a picture to zoom and do the slideshow function the next picture i'm viewing is also 'zoomed' in

Posted by: AL9999

No unfortunately the next picture is zoomed out too, you're not doing anything wrong. You'll just have to zoom each picture.

It's definitely not the most practical way of viewing comics, but I think for those that are in picture format rather than e-book, it's the most practical way possible at the moment.
