the siemens support site has a ver. 54 firmware for the s66

has anybody tried this firmware and does it work on the cingular branded s66?

is it the same as the ver 54 of the s65 firmware?

i'm trying to figure out if i need to go to the trouble of swapping the bootcore or just leaving it as an s66 with the new firmware.

the ver 34 of the firmware for this phone is a mess, likes to crash quite a bit...

any help is appreciated...thanks!

I can't answer many of your questions. However, I can say that I recently updated my Cingular-branded S66 to v54 firmware for the S66 from Siemens / BenQ. The update went fine, and everything still works.

i'll give the ver 54 firmware for the s66 a shot...way easier process than changing to the s65

The updated S66 works great, although BT after a file transfer causes a freeze, just like my 6682 does from time to time.

yeah, got my s66 updated too..seems to fix a lot of nagging things that other people were complaining about on product reviews for the phone.

i got this as an existing customer upgrade on Cingular and they didnt charge me a thing. Seems like this phone has a lot of features on it that were over and above the other free phones.

Cingular must have had too many complaints about the phone and dumped it into the upgrade market. They could have just updated the FW and I think these problems would go away

Has anyone with Cingular tried the Services Over the Air feature from siemens? I can't seem to open the message from Siemens. When I try it says "unable to open message"

Once phone is flashed to stock v54 firmware,
is it possible to flash it back with WinSwup to S65 firmware, any version?

Did it get rid of the Cingular customizations? Did it make your S66 an unbrabded phone?

Well... I loaded a new icon pack onto the phone to accomplish the "unbranding". I don't think that a simple upgrade of the firmware removes the Cingular customizations.
