I just purchased a Nokia 6235i and wondered if there were any known modifications out there for it. I have US Cellular as a provider, and was looking for a workaround to set voice recordings and mp3's as ringtones, without using their easyedge software.

I use that model and downloaded ringtones via data cable. Is that what you're talking about?

How did you add ringtones via the datacable?
I am attempting to use mp3s as a ringtone on my US Cellular Nokia 6235i with no luck.
Add full song mp3 directly, about 4megs, "Invalid Application Type". Probably way too big of a file ...
Cut mp3 down to a snippet, about 20k, same problem.
Convert mp3 to .amr file with Miksoft Mobile AMR Converter. Still complains of "Invalid Application type." It seems like the provided amr files (cackle.amr, bullfrog.amr, etc) are somehow encrypted or tagged to be "valid". It seems these amr files need "something", and I'd think someone out there has figured it out. I'm going to open them all in a hex editor and see if there is anything obvious, but the challenge there is getting a provided amr file onto my computer (the Nokia Phone Browser won't let you copy them, claiming they are "copyrighted"
