Mobil phone tools 4....USB Cable problem

I recently got new USB cable to connect to my v400 phones and my v551 phones. My old cable you had to wiggle and hold in just the right place to get all phones to connect. The new cable will only detect the V551 phone through the USB cable. The v 400 s will not detect at all. The new cable is OEM the old cable was not. Am I doing somthing wrong or is it software or cable issue.Thank you if you can help.
