MMS picture size is getting down sampled??

hi ya'll.

I using sharp 903sh HK firmware, on cingular, here in NYC.

so when I send a MMS message(even to myself) with a picture attached , and lets say for example (768x1024) about 96kb. It appears that the (cell phone) receiver of my picture message is getting an extremely resized version of the image sent??? they are coming in at 1-2kb....

now when I do the same thing, but send it to an email address (to a computer) the file size appears as how it was sent, with no resizing.
can someone please help/

is this a cingular thing?
or is this something in my MMS settings??
or is this just how it goes?

surly I must have something set up wrong?
how can I send high res images from phone to phone?

It's probably a Cingular policy, i send from my Nokia 6270 Rogers to Fido Sharp 903 and there is no alterations.
