Motorola: General ringtone info

i downloaded the trial version and the program freezes whenever i try to edit anything in the large textbox where we are supposed to paste the rtttl. i'm on xp.

Posted by: codingw

Thats not right at all!

Are you on XP home or XP professional, and can you describe exactly what you need to do to cause the freeze and we will see if we can replicate the problem and fix it!

Thanks for the feedback.

Andy

Posted by: Japultra

basically if i try to edit whats it the box. i'll select the text, hit delete and it freezes. i'm on professional.

Posted by: codingw

Thanks, we have tried to replicate it here without luck, if anyone else in the forum can replicate this please let us know.

In the meantime, can you email us your address using the email or feedback form on our site http://www.codingworkshop.com/ringtones/feedback.html and we can send you a copy of the software (in a zip file via email) with all the editing options turned off on that box to see if this helps you at all.

Or...

Just in case the active download isnt updating your system correctly with the rich text box, try the full download at http://www.codingworkshop.com/ringt...rtinst_full.exe

Thanks

Andy

Do I need to restart after installing?

Posted by: codingw

You shouldnt need to restart, no.

If the installation software asks you to, then you will have another piece of software that is using one of the common controls, and it is asking you to restart to close down the other program so it can update the file.

In this case, the original file will be backed up into the backup folder, and when you restart the new file copied into its place.

If it did ask you restart, and you didnt, then this is the problem, in which case just re-install and when it asks again restart this time. Or... close down other apps when your installing.

Andy

Posted by: Japultra

ok i will restart and reinstall with no apps running and tell you what happens.

Posted by: codingw

Thanks for the email letting us know the reboot worked, if you have any more problems please let us know.

V66 supports ringtones entered manually as keypresses. It's the same format as P280, V60, 120C and 270C.

Check out my posts on page 2 of this sticky. There are also various ringtones posted by myself and others in subsequent posts. Just read through the pages.

I am really new to this whole cell phone thing and have just got a 120t. It states in the manual that you can recieve new ringtones through a text message - is this the same as sms? I can input the ringtones by hand but it gets old really quick.

I downloaded the Melody SMS Generator for Motorola but the sample at startup shows a ringtone that looks nothing like the ones to put into the 120t - will this program still work I enter the 120t ringtones?

Any help on how to send the ringtones to my phone would be appreciated.

This How-to only applies to Motorola GSM phones so I wouldn't be able to do this on my V200 right?

Posted by: cool2030

Here's a free way to change RTTTL/Nokia ringtones to Motorola.

http://cellphones.about.com/library/bl_rc.htm

Looks to be working fine for me.

Posted by: snoop_005

Matrixm's keypresses for V60g is all off and the free universal ringtone converter is better but ...i found Coding Workshop's Ringtone converter works the best!!

I read that V60t has a better composer for fast tempo songs, does V60g has this feature as well?

Posted by: ng_yg85

does anyone know in the music video "happy" by ashanti..when ja-rule picks up his phone...what ringtone is that and where the hell can i get it?! i want it sooooo bad...thanks!

I still cant get the keys in the composer. The number sequence makes a different note on mu phone eg: 11 makes a ´.´ instead of a ´2´ I´ve tried to use some software but I still cant get it to work. Have any ideas of what is happening?
thanx

Posted by: Jargan04

Mine does the same thing, so i tried the CW Ringtone converter, it works, you should look into it.

Posted by: Tofuboi

doesnt work ... anyone know if these work for v3682?

Posted by: phill_rj

Hey man,
Can you do me a favor. I would like to try out the CW Ringtone Converter. Could you send me or post here the sequence for the v60t for the Bond theme as you are already registered to the software. It would really help me a lot as i think it is the only software comparable to my model the v60T, all the other sites and programs only works for the other v60.
thanx a lot

To add this ringtone to your Motorola V60i / V60t phone, locate the ringtone editor, then press the keys on your phone in the following sequence:

00 3333 222 3333 00 3333 # 344 00 3333 # 344 00 3333 # 3 # 3333 00 3333 # 3 2222 00 3333 222 3333 00 3333 222 3333 00 3333 222 3333 00 3333 222 3333 00 3333 000344 00 3333 000344 00 3333 0003 2222 00 3333 # 3 # 3333 00 3333 # 3 # 3333 00 3333 # 3 # 3333 00 3333 222 3333 00 3333 # 344 00 3333 # 344 00 3333 # 3 # 3333 00 3333 # 3 2222 00 3333 222 3333 00 3333 222 3333 00 3333 222 3333 00 3333 222 3333 00 3333 000344 00 3333 000344 00 3333 0003 # 3333 00 3333 0003 2222 00 3333 # 3 # 3333 00 3333 000 222 3333 00 3333 222 3333 00 44 222 3333 00 3333 221 # 11 00 3333 4 3333 00 3333 # 333 # 3333 00 3333 41

When you have completed the key press sequence, your phone should display:

*3c3*3d4*3d4*3d3*3d2*3c3*3c3*3c3*3c3*3#d4*3#d4*3#d 2*3d3*3d3*3d3*3c3*3d4*3d4*3d3*3d2*3c3*3c3*3c3*3c3* 3#d4*3#d4*3#d3*3#d2*3d3*3#c3*3c3*4c3*3b1.*3g3*3f3* 3g1

Storing the tone on your Motorola V60i / V60t phone

To enter this code into your V60i / V60t phone, press the menu button and using the arrow keys scroll down and select 'Ring Styles'.

A new menu will appear, scroll down and select 'My Tones', then scroll down and select '[New Tone]'.

I found this ringtone, "Time To Say Goodbye" on:
http://www.geocities.com/wynne_ang_2000/ringtone.htm

It's the last tone on the page. How do I (or can anyone help me) convert this ringtone from a Nokia 3210 to a Motorola v60g?

Thanks in advance!

Posted by: angrychair

Hey codingw I think it would be a nice feature if you could listen to the ringtone you just converted for say your v60 before putting the whole keypress in. That way you can see if it sounds like crap or not.

Posted by: codingw

You can listen to ringtones first - just hit the play button at the bottom of the ringtone window, just above the convert button - it saves on finger wear!!

Does anyone know if the Nextel i90c have a composer? We are based over in England, so we cant get hold of one to see!

If it does we could probably figure it out and add it to the converter if there is demand for it.

The v60i codes are in there now (at last), and we have added a new feature to enhance rtttl files for noise environments, in case anyone is like me and cant hear half the ringtones when they are in the shopping mall.

Andy

Posted by: codingw

Hi,

We have been looking at the v60i/t ringtones, and think we can shorten the key sequences quite a bit.

If anyone has a v60i, or a late model v60t, try the codes below, they work for you, we can make some adjustments so you have lett keys to type in, and can get longer tones.

If not, we can carry on thinking!

Scale - new key sequence

00 3333 222 # 2222 00 3333 # 3 2222 33 2222 333 2222 4 2222 # 2 # 2222 # 22 # 2222 00 44 222 # 2222 3 2222 33 2222 333 2222 4 2222 # 2 # 2222 # 22 # 2222

Scale - original key sequence

00 3333 222 # 2222 00 3333 # 3 2222 00 3333 # 33 2222 00 3333 # 333 2222 00 3333 4 2222 00 3333 2 # 2222 00 3333 22 # 2222 00 44 222 # 2222 00 44 3 2222 00 44 33 2222 00 44 333 2222 00 44 # 4 2222 00 44 2 # 2222 00 44 22 # 2222

The saving is even more on other tunes.

Just because the sun is shining (ie. its a one off), ive converted it for you.

The ringtone was in the Nokia Composer format on the webpage you linked to, so I just pasted it into the converter. Its not the best rendition Ive heard, but here are the key sequences...

For the standard rendition press the keys on your phone in the following order :

11222000 333000 3300 440 400 333000 44# 400 440 440 2000 200 440 440 400 27# 2 333000 4400 111333# 33 222 333# 33 222# 112# 111222000 4400 440 11400 27# 2 4 333# 33# 333000

After pressing the keys in the order shown above, the display on your Motorola should read:

2CwFwEhRqGhFwRGhRqRqAwAhRqRqGhA#AFwRh3FECFEC2A3CwR hRq2GhA#AGFEFw

For a faster rendition (where possible) key in :

11222 333000 330 440 40 33300 44# 40 440 440 200 20 440 440 40 27# 2 33300 440 111333# 33 222 333# 33 222# 112# 11122200 440 440 1140 27# 2 4 333# 33# 33300

I believe when you play it like that its in the rttl format. How would i play it so that i would know what it would sound like on my v60g? The ringtones I've tried usually don't sound much like the rttl type. Thanks.

Oh, I see what you mean now - sorry!

Most phones do play the tones as per the rtttl, the v60g (and v60c / early v60t's) use the old motorola composer that only lets you go up to a 1/4 note in speed, so they are better at slower ringtones, we added a note in the software to that effect.

Ill have a play and see what we can do. Thinking out loud, the converter adjusts the tone as best possible for the phone, we could feed the conversion back through the player so you could get a preview for your actual phone I guess, although it would be played like a piano, and not a beep tone. Let me have a go and get back to you, see what I can do.

The other option you might consider is ringing your dealer and asking them if they can load the later v60i software on your phone, I understand some people have been successful.

Andy

Posted by: angrychair

is the i that much better? and it was just a suggestion nothing dire, so far i really like your software, good job.

Posted by: codingw

The composer in the v60i is much, much better. It finally supports all the notes, octaves, durations etc that have been in the Nokias, and phones like the T68i for a while.

As for the rest, I couldnt tell you as Ive not played with it for very long, just long enough to figure out the tones.

Andy

Posted by: durril

Do people ever read the manuals for their phones. You can also get manuals for about all Motorola phones online as PDFs. The manual won't let you know exactly how to read music, but it makes technology slightly easier to understand.

Posted by: dmckins

Does anyone know anything about keypress ringtones for the C331t? The phone is supposed to be able to download ringtones, screen savers, and backgrounds but no one has any. Keypress would keep me happy until some show up.

If you have any info I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Duane

hey guyz, i just entered a ringtone into my v70. it sounds like the song but the temp sucks. does any one know how i can change it? thanks.

Posted by: cheffy

Thank a ton, codingw. I'll give it a try.

Posted by: codingw

A few answers in one post - here we go...

1. V70 ringtones

The V70 has the same composer as the v60c, and the fastest note is the dreaded 1/4 note. As with the v60 its capable of more, but Motorola didnt put the new composer from the V60i in that handset. I guess we have to wait for the v70i?

2. C331t ringtones

The C331 has the same composer as the 120t handset, so try codes for that, assuming your 't' model is the same as the basic C331 it should work. The 120t uses the iMelody format, so you might be able to download tones in that format to same keying them in.

3. V60i code updates

While im on, we have just posted an update for the v60i with much shorter key press routines, roughly half the previous length for most, and even less for certain tones, so if you have a v60i or a v66i, and have a version earlier than 3.7.5 then its worth updating as it means you can fit longer ringtones into your phone.

Andy

Posted by: borkera

How come on my V60i all the tempos are soooo slow, did the syntax change, which ones of these are for v60i, everything sounds right, jsut way to slow. And I know it can be faster, built in ringers like Maple Leaf Rag have much shorter faster notes

Posted by: codingw

The gsm v60i has a different composer, so if you use the standard v60 conversions everything does play slowly.

If you are using our software to convert you need to make sure you have the latest version, and select the v60i / v60t option to make sure you get the right settings.

The only other possible issue I can think of is that accoriding to the manuals on the Motorola site, there are also two v60i models, the gsm one and the cdma one. If the manual is to be believed the cdma one still has the old composer, so the fastest note is still 1/4 note as with the v60c.

Andy

Posted by: borkera

ah crud, I have a verizon v60i CDMA phone

So this means I'll never get to use this,
http://www.mrtones.com/codice.mt?m=4&s=4856
The doors - Light my fire

Posted by: codingw

The tone on that page is for the v60 (original), so it looks like you have a v60i cdma, but with the newer composer.

Although it means the codes on that page wont work for you, you do have the better phone / composer, given the choice between those codes working, and the phone you have, I would choose your phone every time!

You need to look for key press sequences for the v60i, they are different to the original phone, and of course our software supports them, so if you find the ringtone in rtttl you could convert it with that (subject to copyright etc).

The result will be far better, your phone can do the full range of note durations, dotted notes, repeating blocks etc, so its definately the v60 to have!

Andy

Posted by: borkera

wow, awesome!

Anyone have any v60i ringtones? I guess I'lll try some through your program once I get home. Furthermore, I can find it in nokia keypress, but no RTTTL

Anyway, thanx a million, and I'm looking forward to some v60i ringtones, google turns up nothing

Posted by: codingw

You can find Light my Fire in RTTTL here...

http://www.chewieuk.org/Tones/l/LightMyFire.html

Just for comparison purposes, the key press sequence for a v60i would be something like this :

333 # 3333 000 22244 000 344 333 # 3333 000 4 3333 000 333 # 3333 # 333 # 3333 000 3 # 3333 000 222 3333 000 3 # 3333 00 3333 2244 000 344 000 333 # 3333 22 3333 000 4 # 44 000 33344 3344 000 22244 3 # 3333 000 222 3333 # 3 # 3333 000 22244 000 344 333 # 3333 4 3333 # 33344 000 344 000 22244 00 3333 2244 00 3333 000 2 3333 00 3333 22 3333 000 30

For a v60(original) it would be a lot shorter, something like this...

11133300 22270 37 33300 47 3337 333# 37 2227 37 11220 11137 333700 22 470 3337 33 2227 300 2227 3 22270 37 33300 4 3330 37 2227 1122# 2700 22# 11137000

Ive not tried these, so ive no idea what they sound like, but they should be ok.

Andy

Posted by: borkera

awesome...

Thanks

Posted by: borkera

so I converted it to Motorola v60i from the RTTTL, got this:

00 3333 22 3333 00 3333 4 # 44 00 3333 244 00 3333 22 3333 # 3 # 3333 222 3333 00 3333 22 3333 00 3333 2 3333 00 3333 4 3333 00 3333 2 3333 00 3333 # 33344 00 3333 244 222 3333 # 333 # 3333 # 344 22244 00 3333 000 244 00 3333 4 # 44 00 3333 000 4 3333 00 3333 4 3333 00 3333 000 4 3333 00 3333 4 # 44 00 3333 244 00 3333 22 3333 000 222 3333 00 3333 2244 00 3333 244 00 3333 4 # 44 00 3333 # 33344 00 3333 # 33 # 3333 00 3333 # 333 # 3333 00 3333 20

I tried that and it comes out real slow, does that work for others?

That looks like another v60(original) code. You can usually tell because the original key sequences quite often start '00' where the new ones usually dont.

The only 'new' v60i code ive posted in this forum was in the previous message, everything else was for the v60 (original) or the early v60i models, and they will all play slowly on a late model v60i like the one you have.

Most key sequences you will find on the net will be in the original format because the v60i is such a new handset.

If you work on the basis that if your phone has Java support, then it will need the new v60i key sequences, but it if doesnt then you need the original key sequences you wont go far wrong.

Andy

Posted by: borkera

ok, so your program can't generate keypresses for the NEW v60i? What can?

What can I do to see if I have JAVA support, hehe, sorry for all the questions, you've been awesome!

Posted by: codingw

No, our program, or rather version 3.7.5 or later can, and does generate the codes for both the v60 original and the v60i, I use the v60i myself so I can assure you it works!

You just need to make sure you have the latest version if you have a new v60i.

We dont get Hockey Night in England, so I dont know how the tune goes, but I found the following rtttl on the net:

thanks!
do you know how to convert that so i can enter it into my mot v60g?

Posted by: codingw

Its not an ideal tone for a v60g as it has lots of 1/16th and 1/32 notes. If you have a v60i or other Motorola phone you will be OK, but on a v60g it will play slooooowwwwwwllllllyyyyyy

Hey Andy,

I yesterday upgraded my Motorola v60c to T720 (very nice phone, btw). Any word on when T720 support will be implemented in CW?

Posted by: codingw

We have not got hold of a 720 here in England yet.

From what I have read it has two composers, the one for polyphonic tones, and the other for standard iMelody.

The key presses for the iMelofy are likely to be the same as for the v60i, so if you try these you may find they work for you already. For the poly tones, we are writing midi file routines at the moment to compress and separate channels to make them into suitable ringtones and hope to add it soon, but of course we need to get hold of a 720 to add it to the Motorola!

Let me know how you get on with the iMelody, its quite likely the codes from version 3.8 / v60i will work as they are the codes you find in most of the very latest handsets.

I tried setting for v60i/v60t and although tones do not sound as good as I would expect, they still sound pretty decent. The interesting thing is that the tones which I got from Motorola have name as "Mytone.mid", while the ones entered manually are "Mytone2.imy". There is a pretty noticable difference between .mid and .imy with .mid sounding much better. Personally I can't wait to see mide file routines implemented in CW.

On the same note, if you would like me to test any particular features or file routines of CW before it is released, I'll be more than happy to help you out.

Best regards,

Thanks Andrey.

The mid files are the polyphonic tones, and are multi channel so thats why they sound better. The imy are iMelody files, with just one channel so they should sound pretty similar to the output on a standard v60i, maybe a little more 'musical' as they are played through a speaker rather than a beeper.

As soon as we get the handset we can properly test both formats, the mid file will need downloading to the phone using a cable or IrDA, and the imy format can be keyed in, but in the meantine stick with the v60i codes if they are working.

Andy

So for a V60i TDMA, all you have to do is get the rtttl, convert it to Motorola format, then punch it in?

Thanks.

Thanks.

Thanks!

We do.

For the v60g, v60t, or v60c select v60 (original) in the software.

For the newer v60i, or some later v60t models you need to select the v60i in the software.

so what's up with the v60gi composer??? The tones sound sloooooow... is there something im doing wrong???

Posted by: codingw

The problem with the v60g composer is that it doesnt support faster notes, which is why fast ringtones play slowly. The phone does as it hs fast notes in the standard ringtones, but the converter wont let you enter the fast notes.

Motorola fixed it with the v60i, but apparently you cant upgrade the software in the phone. If you have a true v60i with Java support etc, then all ringtones play correctly.

The converter does the best it can with the older equipment, unfortunately for the v60g it means you are better off with slower ringtones, there isnt anything we can do about it im afraid.

Anyone know any really good, slow ringtones????

Andy

Posted by: vibrate_mode

I'm a little confused. Is the V60gi not a V60i phone? So it has the old V60g composer?

Posted by: codingw

There are only two composers on the v60, the original one and the new one.

The new one is only found on the v60i, and newer v60t phones as far as im aware. Some AT & T v60i phones dont have the newer composer either, so its just a case of trying both.

If you have a v60i and the ringtones dont sound right, try keying the codes in again to make sure its not just a keyying error, but if not try the v60 (original) codes and they should work for you.

The speed of ringtones if you have the original composer will be too slow for faster ringtones, but it is fine for slower tones and its a limitation of the composer on the phone im afraid, and there isnt anything that can be done to fix it.

Posted by: vibrate_mode

Do you have any short sample musical tones for the V60g and the V60i that I can try and test? I'm trying to find out which model I have. Thanks.

Posted by: codingw

If you download the demo of the converter software it will let you try both sets of codes so you can see which ones work.

The demo is free, so it doesnt cost anything to find out.

Handango is advising they are having issues with their software and compatibility with the new V60i. I tried 3 times to send their ringtones to my phone with no avail. I rec'd an email from them advising they are attempting to resolve the issue and will let me know when it is done.. Meanwhile, I'm on a waiting list. If you have a V60i, send Handango an email and they will add you to the list. (Maybe some free ringtones for the inconvenience!)

i found this ringtone that i like a lot, but it's in nokia composer format. i tried using the converter from about.com, but it was saying it's not compatible or something. i think that converter only support RTTTL and Nokring. does anyone have the converter software that can convert this into a Moto v66 ringtone keypress for me? thanks a lot! btw, it was copied and pasted directly from a website, so that's why the notes are separated into three lines. i think they are supposed to be following. i left it "as is" in case it's not supposed to follow, but i'm pretty sure it's following.

I'm having a problem with entering longer ringtones or ones with lots of formatting/extra punches that make me have to cut the ringtone shorter in my V60i. Is there a way around this? Take the example below...

Hello,
I purchased your Ringtone Converter for my v60i and am finally getting it to work for tones it just takes some fine tuning and manual note-changing. However, it seems like the Motorola only accepts short tones and it runs out of room. Is there a way to get more of the tone on there? Some of the formatting and extra number punches take up space in the ringtone entry. For instance, with the Harry Potter tone, I got it to work correctly and sound good, but I had to cut off the last verse of the tone to get it to fit. Is there any way I can get that last verse on there? Below are the long and short RTTL formats (the original and condensed tones) and then what to plug in for my v60i. My phone runs out of room for the ringtone 3/4 of the way through. Thanks!

Hello,

I've been looking many weeks for the ringtone "Supernaut" by Black Sabbath for one of my buddies and didn't find anything yet. I found other songs by the same artist but not this one. If somebody could find it, it would be greatly appreciated! Even if you find it in Nokia RTTL format, that's cool since i can use the Ringtone convertor to convert it!

Hi Uncdwm..

The key sequence you have posted looks like a v60(original) sequence and not a v60i.

Is your phone using the older codes?

Andy

Posted by: uncdwm

well i used ur program and it is on the v60i/t setting and not the original v60 setting so...

Posted by: codingw

No problem.

When you enter the keys you should be getting output like this on your screen:

r3*3b3e3.g4#f3e2b3a2.#f2.e3.g4#f3d2f3*3b1r3*3b3e3. g4#f3e2b3*5d2*5#c3*5c2#g3*5c3.b4#a3#f2g3e1r3

How far does your phone let you get in this sequence? I will compare this with our handset as it will be interesting to see if there are regional differences.

Keys:

7 3333 00 3333 22 3333 # 33 # 3333 11 4 # 44 000 333 # 3333 # 33 2222 # 22 3333 2 # 2222 11 000 333 2222 11 33 # 3333 11 4 # 44 000 333 # 3333 # 3 2222 333 # 3333 00 3333 221 7 3333 00 3333 22 3333 # 33 # 3333 11 4 # 44 000 333 # 3333 # 33 2222 # 22 3333 00 5 3 2222 00 5 000 222 3333 00 5 222 # 2222 000 4 3333 00 5 222 3333 11 2244 000 2 3333 000 333 2222 4 3333 # 331 7 3333

oh yeah i get output like that but the 000 333 4 3333 222 000 kind out sequence is what I actually type into the phone to get the r23*a*3d kind of output...

Posted by: codingw

Thanks.

How far through the ringtone does your phone allow you to get before it runs out of space?

Andy

Posted by: dragon208

does any of those links listed work for Motorla C332? I've tried it and it doesn't work?? =(

Posted by: codingw

No, the codes for the C33x range are different to the v60i (like the T720).

There isnt much difference, but enough to stop them working, probably because of the polyphonics. The converter software only supports single channel ringtones for the C33x phones at the moment, we are aiming to have full poly support in by Christmas.

Thanks

Andy

To add this tone, locate your ringtone composer on the phone and enter the following:

*3g1*3g1*3g1*3#d2r3*3#a3*3g1*3#d2r3*3#a3*3g0*4d1*4 d1*4d1*4#d2r3*3#a3*3#f1*3#d2r3*3#a3*3g0*4g1*3g2r3* 3g3*4g1*4#f2r3*4f3*4e3*4#d3*4e1*3#g2*4#c1*4c2r3*3b 3*3#a3*3a3*3#a1*3#d2*3#f1*3#d2r3*3#a3*3g1*3#d2r3*3 #a3*3g0

To do this (once in the composer), press the keys on your phone in the order shown below:

00 3333 41 00 3333 41 00 3333 41 00 3333 0003 2222 73333 00 3333 0002 3333 00 3333 41 00 3333 0003 2222 73333 00 3333 0002 3333 00 3333 40 # 00 44 31 00 44 31 00 44 31 00 44 0003 2222 73333 00 3333 0002 3333 00 3333 000 3331 00 3333 0003 2222 73333 00 3333 0002 3333 00 3333 40 # 00 44 # 41 00 3333 4 2222 73333 00 3333 4 3333 00 44 # 41 00 44 000 333 2222 73333 00 44 333 # 3333 00 44 33 # 3333 00 44 0003 # 3333 00 44 331 00 3333 0004 2222 00 44 000 2221 00 44 222 # 2222 73333 00 3333 22 3333 00 3333 0002 3333 00 3333 2 3333 00 3333 00021 00 3333 0003 2222 00 3333 000 3331 00 3333 0003 2222 73333 00 3333 0002 3333 00 3333 41 00 3333 0003 2222 73333 00 3333 0002 3333 00 3333 40

The conversion above looks like it is for a v60i. Although it will work, it might be very quiet.

For the T720 / C33x handsets you could try:

To add this tone, locate your ringtone composer on the phone and enter the following:

g1g1g1#d2r3#a3g1#d2r3#a3g0*5d1*5d1*5d1*5#d2r3#a3#f 1#d2r3#a3g0*5g1g2r3g3*5g1*5#f2r3*5f3*5e3*5#d3*5e1# g2*5#c1*5c2r3b3#a3a3#a1#d2#f1#d2r3#a3g1#d2r3#a3g0

To do this (once in the composer), press the keys on your phone in the order shown below:

41 41 41 000 3 2222 7 3333 000 2 3333 41 000 3 2222 7 3333 000 2 3333 40 # 00 5 31 00 5 31 00 5 31 00 5 000 3 2222 7 3333 000 2 3333 000 3331 000 3 2222 7 3333 000 2 3333 40 # 00 5 41 4 2222 7 3333 4 3333 00 5 41 00 5 000 333 2222 7 3333 00 5 333 # 3333 00 5 33 # 3333 00 5 000 3 # 3333 00 5 331 000 4 2222 00 5 000 2221 00 5 222 # 2222 7 3333 22 3333 000 2 3333 2 3333 000 21 000 3 2222 000 3331 000 3 2222 7 3333 000 2 3333 41 000 3 2222 7 3333 000 2 3333 40

This should be louder, and there are less keys to press so you can fint longer tones into the phone.

The T720 and v60i are different conversions, if you have a T720 or C33x phone, its worthwhile upgrading to the latest version 3.8.9 if you are trying the ringtone converter as the support for these phones is much improved.

Ok, try this... This works on my v60i (TDMA) from AT&T WS... I just got it 5 days ago...

Find something that can send PLAIN SMS message of 140 characters in length... Send an SMS message to your phone with one of the following...

For the phone ring from Jurasic Park 3.... sms message body should be.....

BEGIN:IMELODY
VERSION:1.2
FORMAT:CLASS1.0
MELODY:*4g3*4e3*4f4*4e4*4d3*4c3*4g3*5c3*4c3
END:IMELODY

for the God Father theme.... sms message body should be....

BEGIN:IMELODY
VERSION:1.2
FORMAT:CLASS1.0
MELODY:*4g3*5c3*5#d3*5d3*5c3*5#d3*5c3*5d3*5c3*4#g3 *4#a3*4g1*4g3*5c3*5#d3*5d3*5c3*5#d3*5c3*5d3*5c3*4g 3*4#f3*4f1*4f3*4#g3*4b3*5d1*4f3*4#g3*4b3*5c1*4c3*4 #d3*4#a3*4#g3*4g3*4#a3*4#g3*4#g3*4g3*4g3*4b3*5c1
END:IMELODY

for Inspector Gadget theme... sms message body should be....

BEGIN:IMELODY
VERSION:1.2
FORMAT:CLASS1.0
MELODY:*4e2*4#f3*4g2*4a3*4b2.*4g2.*4#a2.*4#f2.*4a2 .*4g2.*4e2*4#f3*4g2*4a3*4b2.*5e2.*5#d2.
END:IMELODY

The SMS message sending link off of AT&T Wireless website only sends up to 110 characters, so if you want to trim them down, you can use that if you are an AT&T WS subscriber.

Now, if only I could find what to do when the number of characters that need to be send is greater than 140!!!

Posted by: Mark_Venture

here are a couple more... again, send this as a plain SMS message to the phone... It works for my v60i (TDMA) on AT&T Wireless

Donkey Kong arcade game theme....

BEGIN:IMELODY
VERSION:1.2
FORMAT:CLASS1.0
MELODY:*4c2*4d4*4#d3*4c3*4b5*5c5*4b5*5c5*4b5*5c5*4 b5*5c5*4b5*5c5*4b5*5c5*4b5*5c2
END:IMELODY

Flintstones theme...

BEGIN:IMELODY
VERSION:1.2
FORMAT:CLASS1.0
MELODY:*4#a2#d2.*5#d2c3#a2#d2.#a2#g3g3g3#g3#a3#d2f 2#d1
END:IMELODY

Simpsons theme....

BEGIN:IMELODY

END:IMELODY

Star Trek theme...

BEGIN:IMELODY
VERSION:1.2
FORMAT:CLASS1.0
MELODY:*4f3.*4#a4*5#d2.*5d3*4#a4.*4g4.*5c4.*5f2
END:IMELODY

Interesting..

It worked for me BUT you must make sure when you send it, the message body must include everything from BEGIN:IMELODY to END:IMELODY.. INCLUDING the BEGIN:IMEOLDY and END:Imelody. It must contain these completely.. any misisng part of END:IMELODY, for example END:Imelo, will cause you to get just text and not the ringer tone. Subject and FROM are optional.

So far, I have sent my phone 10 ringers this way and all have come through OK. But if your ringer tone exceeds the limit or misses part of the END:IMELODY words, you will not get the ring tone but instead get just text.

Can I do this on my V70 also?

And it doesn't look like the first link goes directly to the page anymore.

Posted by: Kr0n0s

One time someone psted a fast version of the "Godfather theme" and it sounded amazing. Since then I had my V70 replaced and I lost all my ringtones. Could someone please post it here?

Posted by: Bengalboy

Here you go...

Locate your phones ringtone composer, then enter the following key press sequence into your phone (ignore the spaces).

For the standard rendition press the keys on your phone in the following sequence :

11400 111222 37# 3 222 37 222 3 222 1147 27 4000 4400 4 111222 37# 3 222 37 222 3 222 114 3337# 333000 4400 333 47 22 1113000 4400 11333 47 22# 111222000 4400 11222 37 27 47# 4 27 47# 47# 4# 4 22# 111222000

After pressing the keys in the order shown above, the display on your Motorola should read:

2Gh3CD#DCD#CDC2G#A#GwRhG3CD#DCD#CDC2GF#FwRhFG#B3Dw Rh2FG#B3CwRh2CD#A#G#GA#G#G#GGB3Cw

For a faster rendition (where possible) key in :

1140 111222 37# 3 222 37 222 3 222 1147 27 4000 440 4 111222 37# 3 222 37 222 3 222 114 3337# 333000 440 333 47 22 1113000 440 11333 47 22# 111222000 440 11222 37 27 47# 4 27 47# 47# 4# 4 22# 111222000

Storing the tone on your phone

To enter this code into your V70 phone, click the menu (top central) button and scroll down and select 'Settings'.

A new menu will appear, so scroll down and select 'Ring/Vibrate', then again scroll and select 'My Tones'.

You will now see a list of tones you have entered.

To store your new ringtone, scroll down to '[New Tone]', then select '[Notes]'. Finally type in the key sequence above to program the new tone into your phone.

Could someone please post the fast version of the "Pulp Fiction" theme? The verision I have is way too slow. TIA

Here's the link to the version I am currently using:

(FYI, the composer I am using on my v60i cannot produce the "*" symbol, so if somebody could please post the v60 version)

Could someone pls oh please tell me how to convert the stock ERICSSON Ringtone called "MIXED" to my Motorola V70 (maybe even Samsung S105)

That's the only ringtone I've actually loved... and used consistently...

Nokia "BEE" is a good alternative

Anyone can help me out? I really do hate MUSIC ringtones or POLY ringtones for the matter... I can't be the only person feeling this.. hehe

Guys, we need a "Motorola Ring Tones" forum. Just a place where people can post GOOD motorola ringtones that they have in thier phones. Whos with me?? Howard, can you make this happen?

Posted by: gev115

Ok, i'm sorry if this is mentioned somewhere, but i read the first 5 pages and didn't see anything. how do i sms the tones? i found a site with free sms, and i entered the tones, sent it, and got it, but i can't put that text message into my tones. am i missing something?

Posted by: codingw

It all depends on which Motorola phone you have as to if, and how you can send ringtones by sms.

For the older handsets like the V50, V100, Accompli etc you can send the motorola sms text format ringtones by sms.

For intermediate handsets like the v60, v66 or v70 I dont know of a way to add tones, then ..

For newer handsets like some of the V60i or V66i models you can simply send an iMelody ringtone by sms and the phone may accept it.

This works with some handets, but not all, but it might be worth a go if you have free accesss to a web sms gateway.

I read everyone of these pages, trying to find a way to put some new tones in. I spent several hours checking out different sites and links. I finally figured out how to convert the tones by my self. I know, I'm cheap.
I did check out Coding Workshop. I think it's great and I will probly download the full version soon, but I just wanted to try a few songs out first, without paying the $20 or so bucks.
Great thread.

Well, I guess I'm not all that cheap. Last night I went ahead and downloaded the Coding Workshop, now if I could only figure out how to import tunes.
I may have figured out how to decode the tunes myself, but way to time consuming. The money is well worth it. I do wish that the price was as low as it was in the begining of this thread, but that the economy for ya.

At last, a proper documentation explaining how the ringtones work on the newest generation phones i.e C33x.

Motorola Format at SRTware.com

AS usual, YMMV. My C333 doesn't support volume changes(v+-) nor CODA(()@)

Also has RTTL format and web-based Ringtone Converter.

I've read through most of these forums, with various people asking about or suggesting a list of decent, up to speed ringtones for motorola phones, specifically v60i. Yet, I have not found a response or anything that does not involve payin $12 for a program that you download. I think puttin up a specific post about tones that people have used and like, and have those listed, would be wonderful. On the other hand, I do appreciate a COUPLE of the tones that actually sounded up to speed that i used, like the simpsons and james bond theme music. Anyone else have any good ideas about how and where to get this started?

Posted by: opjose

I've had no problems using the ringtone editor posted in the files FTP on the V60i. However there is a bit of a trick involved.

(Note this converter was originally part of the Motorola Messaging Suite)

Go to a site such as

http://www.universal-ringtones.net/

and select a free IMelody tone NOT a phone specific one!

For instance I selected Yankee Doodle

*3g3*3g3*3a3*3b3*3g3*3b3*3a3*3g3*3g3*3a3*3b3*3g3*3 #f3*3#f3r3*3g3*3g3*3a3*3b3*4c3*3b3*3a3*3g3*3#f3*3d
3

Paste the above string into the Ring Tone Editor.

Note that you'll get a bunch of spaces in the string. Delete just the spaces so that everything runs together.

Delete any spaces & empty lines at the end of the string too.

Now if you have a V60i phone note that it cannot handle more than 128 characters. This includes the email/SMS header itself... ugh!

The extra characters will automatically appear in red in the editor.

If you send your phone this message/tone w/o first deleting these characters the message will be interpreted as text!

Delete the red characters and play the tone. If you get an "IME file format error", then the tones did not end on the right character. Delete the last character and try again. Repeat until you get NO error.

DO NOT check off any of the boxed items as this will reduce the character count!

Save the resulting file in the editor.

The resulting file for the above is a text file and it looks like this...

BEGIN:IMELODY
VERSION:1.2
FORMAT:CLASS1.0
MELODY:*3g3*3g3*3a3*3b3*3g3*3b3*3a3*3g3*3g3*3a3*3b 3*3g3*3#f3*3#f3r3a
END:IMELODY

The MELODY line is all one line (just in case it wraps here...). Notice where the editor told me to cut it.

Send this message to your phone as an e-mail but only add a return at the end of END:IMELODY when you paste it into your e-mail client.

Do not use a subject.

For instance for cingular US, send the message via e-mail to 2195555555@mobile.mycingular.com where the number before the @ is replaced by the number of your cell phone.

When it receives the message you'll hear and be able to store the tone.

I've done about twenty tones this way, for free!

Have fun.

Posted by: opjose

Oops forgot to mention, send the e-mail as TEXT not HTML!

Posted by: adamj_43

that doesn't only work for singular wireless?? Sounds like it might, and I have no idea where you got your converter either. Anyhow, my original hopes were that we'd be able to actually paste and trade our tones on here somehow, but thank you anyhow for your input.

Posted by: opjose

"Sending" the ringtones should work with any SMS compatible service.

The Ringtone editor is available on many sites, but it is only an aid.

The key is the size of the message. On the V60i's the message length determines if the phone will view it as a ring tone or not.

That is why some people are reporting trouble with some of the previously posted iMelody ringtones, they are too long for their phones.

im wondering wat program u can use to upload ringtones/ wallpapers/ java apps onto the unit.. im a i95feen but my friend have the 720. i have all the programs for the nextels web jal ic jal loaders and all the cables.. and they dont recognize the phone even though they use the same cable.. can someone link me or give me sum info that i can use to put the games and stuff on the phone..

I don't know whether this have been asked before but with the number of pages here, there is no way I can read all of them. So here goes:

I use a V66 and have programmed the tune. However, I need the tune tempo to be slightly faster. Is there any way to change the tempo?

Thanks beforehand.

If you are SMS texting the message to your phone add a

BEAT: 180

to the header.

So far, I have sent my phone 10 ringers this way and all have come through OK. But if your ringer tone exceeds the limit or misses part of the END:IMELODY words, you will not get the ring tone but instead get just text.

What sort of melody formats are accepted, and where can I get them?

As far as I know, when it comes to iMelody, there is a "iMelody Standard" that must be followed... I could not find iMelody ringers for download anywhere, so I made my own...

I used the Motorola Messaging Suite v1.1 it has a ring tone creater/editor that also can import a Nokia RTLL ring tone from a text file and saves the ringers as an iMelody format file. Its available from the Motorola MOTOCODER website. You must sign up, but download is free.

It will also show you if your iMelody is TOO long for your particular phone. and where you need to start chopping it to make it short enough for your phone.

I put some of the iMelody ringers I used in my AT&T Wireless v60i (TDMA) HERE Each are short enough to send via SMS message to my phone and save as ringer. (view the .ime file with Notepad, copy the contents of the file to the clipboard and paste into the body of the SMS message you are sending to the phone). They also can be loaded onto my T730 via data cable and PST. (if you use EMS Manager, you need to rename from .IME to .IMY to add them to your EMS file.)

Now, as for other ringer types... like MIDI or "Voice" ringers... That depends on the phone.

For example... My AT&T v60i only supports iMelody format, or key presses from My Tones menu on the phone...

but on my Verizon T730(CDMA)....

According to the Yamaha SMAF Global Website, the Motorola T720 (CMDA) supports the Yamaha mobile audio synthesizer LSI "MA-3". The T730 (CDMA), while not listed, appears to also support this. T720 GSM is NOT listed on that site and some of the voice ringers that work on my Verizon T730 (CDMA) did not work on a friend's AT&T Wireless T720 (GSM). However, all the MIDI ring tones that work on mine DID work on his.

For MIDI files as ring tones... per the SMAF docs, "Please use Standard MIDI File Format 0" and "Midi channels from 1 to 16 can be used."

You can also use "voice" style ring tones from WAV or MP3 files. Wav/MP3s you want to converted into RingTones must be MONO, 16bit Audio Sample Size, and 4 or 8kHz Sample Rate or the converter will not work. Also, per the convert tool's user guide... "The size of WAVE file to input does not have a restriction. However, in the case of contents which playback time exceeds 66 seconds, the data after 66 seconds is not set as the playback object in created SMAF. In order to create SMAF with sufficient data efficiency, we recommend you to input the file, which playback time is less than 66 seconds." All the files I have done have been WAV less than 40 seconds and they work.

But I can only speak of the phones I've owned... v60i(TDMA) or T730(CDMA).

Anyone know where I can get the song from the carlsbad commercial?

I think its called "can't take my eyes off of you"

You all know the song..."I love you baby...and if it's quite alright, I need you baby"

Yeah you all know it!

I've tried entering in the song a couple times from the listed nokia code converted into motorola code, but it just doesn't sound right at all.

I have a v60i.

Any help would be great, thanks!

I don't want the second part, just the first part, but I also dont' like the ending of the 'first part'....if you hear it you will probably understand what I mean about finishing the first part off nicer to start the ringtone again.

I'm just not very good at this I tried editing it myself with no success.

Anyways, this sticky thread is really unorganized. I know I am new but I would suggest a separate forum for ringtones. a section where people just post what ringtone they have in a separate post, and a separate area for requesting ringtones.

The way it is right now is really messy, and a lot of different posts on software or what-not. The whole motorola forum split into a general, modding and FAQ sections seems pretty trivial to me also, as modding and general has similar topics and FAQ doesn't really have much FAQ.

I can send ICQ SMS Messages to my Cell Phone (Motorola V60i) but how do I convert the SMS Message to a ringtone? It takes so much time and effort to manually enter the tones and I am looking for a faster approach on entering ringtones in. Please help!!

Posted by: Rayski

I have a V66 and don't know anything about the V60i.

Unfortunately some folks who have their questions answered don't come back any more to see if they can return the favor.

Do some searching and maybe your question has already been answered, maybe even in this thread.

Cube?? are you referring to me?? (I don't see a quote or "in response to...." in your message.)

No they are not spammer sites that I posted...

first one is link to discussion here.

second link is mine, with no adds or nothing, hosted on my dialup isp's included web space. and believe me when I tell you that I am an extreme novice when it comes to web pages, so it is very simple. I just got tired of the guys at work asking how i did it, so I put together a summary and links that helped me and put it up there. now when someone asks.. i just point them there.

(dial up provider used because work has moved me around a few times, so its easier to put it there, because unlike my DSL or cable, my dial up isp goes with me where ever I move too.)

Based on whats in the help for Motorola Messaging Suite software, under Specifications for the v60i it lists the following...

EMS Features - Sound Supported
Length: Max 128 bytes (Including headers)
Duration: 20 ms
Frequency Range: 554Hz - 2349Hz

so that appears to be a PHONE limit and even if you find something that can send more than 128, it might not work when it gets to the phone

Posted by: katka

Hey everyone, this is my first post here, so please be kind (and before you ask, yes, I have looked through all of the posts and nothing seems to relate to my specific problem).

I just got a Motorola v60i, and when I try to plug in the numbers for ringtones given on various pages in this forum into 'My Tones', nothing different comes up (like someone said before), I just get the numbers I punched in and no tone.

If anyone has any idea what is going on (be it phone error or user error), please let me know. Thank you!

When i used the link on the first post I got spammed OK.
I never tried you links so I can't coment on them.
But as in most cases If I never used your name I was not talking about you unless you use the name Quobe or what ever it is.
So I will try your links now who ever you are.

Important note: Some V60i models have an earlier composer, so if the keys below dont work, try the v60 (original) key sequences.

To add this tone, locate your ringtone composer on the phone and enter the following:

e3e3r4e2c3e2g2r2*3g2r2c2r3*3g2r3*3e2r3*3a2*3b2*3#a 3*3a2*3g3.e3g3a2f3g2e2c3d3*3b2r3c2r3*3g2r3*3e2r3*3 a2*3b2*3#a3*3a2*3g3.e3g3a2f3g2e2c3d3*3b2r2g3#f3f3# d3r3e3r3*3#g3*3a3c3r3*3a3c3d3r2g3#f3f3#d3r3e3r3*5c 3r3*5c3*5c3r1g3#f3f3#d3r3e3r3*3#g3*3a3c3r3*3a3c3d3 r2#d3r2d3r2c3

To do this (once in the composer), press the keys on your phone in the order shown below:

33 # 3333 # 33 # 3333 744 33 2222 # 222 3333 # 33 2222 4 2222 7 2222 00 3333 4 2222 7 2222 # 222 # 2222 7 3333 00 3333 4 2222 7 3333 00 3333 # 33 2222 7 3333 00 3333 2 # 2222 00 3333 22 # 2222 00 3333 000 2 3333 00 3333 2 # 2222 00 3333 4 3333 11 33 # 3333 4 3333 2 # 2222 333 # 3333 4 2222 33 2222 # 222 3333 # 3 # 3333 00 3333 22 # 2222 7 3333 222 # 2222 7 3333 00 3333 4 2222 7 3333 00 3333 # 33 2222 7 3333 00 3333 2 # 2222 00 3333 22 # 2222 00 3333 000 2 3333 00 3333 2 # 2222 00 3333 4 3333 11 33 # 3333 4 3333 2 # 2222 333 # 3333 4 2222 33 2222 # 222 3333 # 3 # 3333 00 3333 22 # 2222 7 2222 4 3333 000 333 # 3333 # 333 # 3333 000 3 # 3333 7 3333 # 33 # 3333 7 3333 00 3333 000 4 3333 00 3333 2 3333 222 3333 7 3333 00 3333 2 3333 222 3333 # 3 # 3333 7 2222 4 3333 000 333 # 3333 # 333 # 3333 000 3 # 3333 7 3333 # 33 # 3333 7 3333 00 5 222 3333 7 3333 00 5 222 3333 00 5 222 3333 71 4 3333 000 333 # 3333 # 333 # 3333 000 3 # 3333 7 3333 # 33 # 3333 7 3333 00 3333 000 4 3333 00 3333 2 3333 222 3333 7 3333 00 3333 2 3333 222 3333 # 3 # 3333 7 2222 000 3 # 3333 7 2222 3 # 3333 7 2222 # 222 3333

Storing the tone on your Motorola V60i phone

To enter this code into your V60i phone, press the menu button and using the arrow keys scroll down and select 'Ring Styles'.

A new menu will appear, scroll down and select 'My Tones', then scroll down and select '[New Tone]'.

Finally, select 'Change' to enter the note editor. Now, type in the key sequence above to program the new tone into your phone.

i keyed on those numbers into my v60i phone... why does it sound retarded? like it's not the right song??

Posted by: Rayski

Locate your phones ringtone composer, then press the keys on your phone in the order shown below (ignore the spaces and what appears on the phone display - simply press the keys in the order shown).

For the standard rendition press the keys on your phone in the following order :

Storing the tone on your phone

To enter this code into your V60 (original) phone, click the menu (top central) button and scroll down and select 'Settings'.

There are many versions of the same songs out there so you might want to do a search and once you find the one you like go ahead and copy and paste the RTTTL or Nokia Composer version and I will convert it for you.

Which converter do you use? will it work for v60? Is it the one by Coding Workshop or someone else and can you try it before you purchase?

Hello all..

I had the most terrible time trying to find a good Lord Of The Rings ringtone, so finally, I broke down and figured out how to compose my own... So, if anyone would also like this ringtone, here it is.. It is the Shire theme from the first movie...
