So the rumor mill thing I take it you all arent very interested in, but I am looking for some feedback from some of the members in here, and Ill try to make it short.

I'm using the 2125 right now, and I just really like it a lot. I like the one haded use of it, and the reception / battery life have all exceeded expecations. I didnt think I would like this phone as much as I do, and for us geeks it really just does what its supposed to do..but....

Goodlink, Im using it with our enterprise server and while the ability to use this feature on the phone has opened up a new world, its opened up a lot of lagging, weird lockups, and other annoyances.

I just got an email today that the Palm WM5 device is a definate go for this year for Cingular, with a scheduled (using that term loosley) release of holidays Q4.

My friends, this is what Ive been looking for my whole life I swear to you. I can get an 8125 right now for roughly $30 more than I got my 2125 for, which really isnt bad. Anyways, since this thread hasnt recieved much traffic Im going to go a little OT and ask for some feedback from members who have usage experience from both the 8125 and the 2125.

I noticed that both devices have the same processor, so does that mean programs should reletively run faster on 2125 than the 8125 due to the PPC and smartphone versions of WM5?

If anyone has any knowledge or more info on this device please let us all know.

I have the Cingular 2125 - and I cannot find where the IRDA port is on the phone! I think i may be going crazy, but it for real isnt there -even though the IRDA is listed in the hardware specs...any suggestions?

I have both phones currently. Speed is not noticeably faster on the 2125 than on the 8125. The difference between the two I think the Windows Pocket PC verson of WM5 is a bit more capable than on the WM5 smartphone version. I really like the size of the 2125 fits right in your pocket. The 8125 while small, fits in your pocket, but if feels like its a big weight there, the reason I got the 2125 in the first place. The 8125 has more programs like pocket excel, word, powerpoint etc. While 2125 can view them, it doesn't have them on the phone. The screen is nice on both, but the 8125's screen is much bigger and for typing text, that is no contest. The pull out sliding keyboard is very usefull. The Wifi is a dream, I love it. Goodlink is on both, so even there. Surfing on the web on the 8125 with Wifi even EDGE is very good. Ditto on the 2125. My EDGE speeds on both are comparable, but seem to be better on the 8125, why I have no idea. The 8125 is better for sending messages because of the better keyboard and the Wifi and more programs. But if you don't need all of the above, the size of the 2125 is very nice indeed. I have both so I have the best of both worlds. The size of the 8125 is compact but not something you can carry around in your pocket comfortably. The 2125 you can with ease, and even forget it's there. I put my 8125 in my laptop case so no problems. But when I am in my civies I need to put something in my pocket and that is comfortable to carry around, the 2125 fits the bill quite nicely and is quite capable, almost as much as the 8125. Both are nice and work quite well. I would have both if you can or wait for the new version of the 2125, the HTC metor, or the Hermes. Even the Startrek aka"3125" is my dream phone, if EDGE is okay with you, and not UMTS. Not a smartphone, but the Cu500 sounds nice and is quite capable. Also has HSDPA. Man choices, choices. Hope this helps bro. I don't know about you, but I can't make my mind up on what to get.

I believe this is the upgrade to the TyTN with HSDPA. Here is the TyTN.

http://europe.htc.com/products/tytn.php

Look at the specs: HSDPA. So it is the TyTN probably through a software upgrade. It says HSDPA capable in the specs. check it.

Now all we need is a UMTS or HSDPA version of the "Startrek". Man, now that would be my dream phone, the phone to end all phones. I wouldn't need another phone ever again.

I like the idea of having a rumor mill thread. The problem is, there are too many stickies and this should probably be one to get everyone interested.
