So ive asked some questions in the other threads but havent gotten an answer, they prob got lost in there. Someone did say to install wififofum i need to upgrade the .net, how do i do this? i downloaded something from the windows mobile website.. but i dont know how to get this onto the phone can someone tell me what they did?

There should be some explicit instructions on Micro$oft'$ web$ite for how to update the .net framework (I think that's what you're doing) on a handheld/mobile device.

Posted by: ImInBoston

they dont have anything explicit about it on the site, what i have done is download the file, and while synced with the phone i installed it, and wififofum still didnt work

Posted by: SoberGuy

So you did install the .net upgrade?

Posted by: ImInBoston

is there any way to check on the phone?

Go here to install Wififofum2 with the .net update. You'll need to have ActiveSync installed.

Ok, I went to the link that Whaleboy supplied and download the file. During set up it tells me that i need the .net framework and I click yes to get it and it takes you to this page http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframew...es/default.aspx . I click on the first 2.0 .net framework which is titled ".NET Framework 2.0 SDK x86", is this the right one? The only reason I as is that it's 354 MB's. Thanks for the help.

Posted by: Whaleboy

No, thats not it. I'm not sure how you got there.

Download this .msi file and then run it, it will install Wififofum2 + the net 2.0 framework you need.

Posted by: wookiee2cu

Whaleboy, thanks but I still get the same thing. I start to install it and a window pops up and says that I need .net framework 2 and would I like to get it. I click on yes and then it takes me to the link I provided earlier. What I need is a link to download the .net framework 2. Can some one please point me to that?

another tip when installing the Compact Framework .NET 2.0: when the PC screen says to took to your 8125/device for any installation instructions, DO NOT press "OK" until you see that the .NET 2.0 framework has fully installed on your 8125. I pressed my PC "OK" button too early initially, and it didn't all the installation of 2.0 on my 8125.

get socket wificompanion.... it is really a great program...

Posted by: wookiee2cu

ok, I must be retarded or something. I went to this link to down load WiFiFofum: http://www.aspecto-software.com/xoo...php?cid=1&lid=4

I go to install it and I get this error:

I click on the yes button and it takes you here where I and install the Compact Framework .NET 2.0:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframew...es/default.aspx

I run it and it gets put on my phone and then I restart my phone. So I go back to the WiFiFoFum setup file and start it up again and the damn error message telling me that I need to install .net framework 2 pops up again. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Posted by: mclaughlinc

What is this for?

Posted by: ImInBoston

wookie i had the same problem, even after i put the .net framework on i got that message, i just deleted the .cab file for wififofum, put it back on and reinstalled it, i think i even got an error message once like that, but did it again and it worked, it was a pain but eventually it worked

I got WiFiFoFum to install, but i cannot get .Net compact Framework to install every time it gets 4 bars into the install & then it says...

Installation error. Stop all application & processes, mazimize available storea space & run installation agian.

All i have running is active sync & there is plenty of storage space.

I downloaded the Socket Wifi Companion, but during the install I receive the message that "One or more components of WLAN Tools were not found, or there are to few resources available to start the program. Please verify proper installation of WLAN Tools and try again".

WLAN Tools, what is that? This looks like the exact program that I need, since Cirond Pocket Winc is no longer sold. Appreciate any help.

I would like to know how to use the program too actually...I know it's purpose but don't quite know how to use it yet...do you have to be connected to the internet on your phone to scan for access pts/hot spots or something?? IDK...

Ok I see the names. But how do I connect? What about if it's secured and how do I know? Thanks.

It is available on many websites for free. Here is one
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/s.p...=.net+framework
Why it is so hard to find on the ms website relates to their poor search engine.
