I have a V710 from Telus. I called motorola and they tell me if I have a MP3 that is less then 30 seconds long then I can copy it to the phones memory from my transflash card and then apply it as a ringtone. Well that wasnt working out to well. I have gotten:
Winamp
Out Lame plug-in for Winamp
Lame .dll file
mp3DirectCut.exe
Ive cut a track down to 15 seconds and saved it. Opened it in Winamp after installing the plugin. set the bitrate to 80, forced mono, constant bitrate then clicked ok.. hit play so it goes through the plugin and saves.. moved that file to my memory card then put the card in and moved the file to may phones memory. But I just cant get it to apply as ringtone.. doesnt give me the option or anything.. I have even tryed some files from http://motov710.blogspot.com/#110316391858473412 where he has tryed to do this and it worked.. (where i got all the directions above) and his file wont apply either..Ive tryed in the settings menu and hitting the menu button in the sound list for a option to apply. All the built in ringtones have that option but the ones i add wont allow me... HELP!

Same question/problem. Hopefully there is a simple answer out there???

You need to seem edit your phone if you want to use you own ringtones

do a search of these forums for "v710 seem" and you should find your way through to marks site.

i just got my cable and did my seem edits a couple days ago.. i'm in ringtone heaven

it's not really that bad if you read the directions a couple times and follow them through.

your only 3 hours drive from calgary ..

I have a Moto V710 with USCellular as my provider... I was having problems sending MP3s to my phone too, but clipped it down to 300KB as suggested. I just sent it to my number@uscc.mms.net

Finally, I got one to work! I did the "defer" download, downloaded it, then when you can play it and have options, a option for "Apply as Ringtone" came up, when previously that had not happened. It was perfect!

Well I tried to do that with other songs... and for some reason, two seconds later, the same option did not pop up. And also the MP3s that I had been sending showed up as "filename.qcp."

So what the heck is up??
