New V710 - data cable question!

I just got a new Motorola V710 and I defintally want to buy a data cable so I can make my own ringtones and move pictures and videos from my phone to PC.
I was looking at buying the Motorola Original OEM Data Cable but then I read the description saying:
"New for V300, V400 and V600 users only - update a new version at this link to enjoy multimedia with your new mobile phone! Transfer images and audio files between PC and phone, create ring tones and edit images. Also compose and send Multimedia Message Service (MMS) messages from your PC over the wireless network"
I have a V710, so does that mean I can't do any of that stuff with my phone if I got a data cable?
