Telus Razr V3c battery

I just bought the Telus V3c from Telus and ran the battery down to dead before first charge. I charged it completely with the home charger and then took it to work the next day. It took 2 days for the battery to completely drain and even after the second full charge it lasted only 2 days. I know that the CDMA network sucks up more battery but this is ridiculous, for a new battery! I had not even really played with my phone that much the second time around. I do not have a bluetooth headset yet but am afraid to see the battery life after I get that!
First of all, is this normal?
Secondly, if I want to buy a second battery, what do you guys recommend? Is there an aftermarket manufacturer of these batteries that would be cheaper than buying another Motorola OEM?
