Razr V3i Voicemail Issue

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have the unlocked V3i (UK edition) I'm trying to use it on the US T-Mobile system, and everything is working fine except the voicemail notification.

When someone calls me and leaves me a voicemail, instead of the normal voicemail notification icon, I get a text message with a triangle and a @ sign. Then when I call my voicemail to check my messages, after I hang up, I get another text message with a similarly odd message.

My last phone was an unlocked V3 (also from UK) and it worked fine, with no special set up.

I called Tmobile, but they said they can't help since it's an unsupported phone.

Any ideas on how to make the regular voicemail notification work?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hey, I thought I was only one with this problem. Same here, I get strange symbol, like a baby bottle with the @ symbol after retrieving a voicema. Also p2kman won't connect, says my phones not connected. If you resolve this issue please let me know, I am willing to pay someone to help me. Called Cingular and they said this usually happens when a phones beened flashed but I don't know what that means.

I had to reflash my V3i the other evening due to a skin error. Didn't load the same flex that came with it but a newer one. Reading this thread today got me wondering so I tested and yep, I had the @ symbol when getting a VM. Also the VM would send another @ symbol while listening to a VM.

So I did the SEEM edit listed in a previous post and it worked fine. Go to www.motomodders.net to get the P2KMan. It worked for me.

thanks 4 ur reply about the voicemail. When I download the p2kman, it says my phones not connected. I tried all different options and still can't get it to work. I need to get this fixed cause it is so annoying and Cingular charges for all of those texts. Do you know if Motorola would fix this software issue if I took it to a local rep?

Try this, uninstall any P2K software and any Moto drivers and reboot. Go to Motomodder's and download this: Win2K/WinXP Motorola DriverPack, Version 2.9

Install the above software before plugging the phone in. Now reinstall P2KMan also found on Motomodder's. Plug in your phone. It worked for me the first time. Hope this helps.

I have the same problem as you. I found the answer at www.motox.us. You have an older OS version and you have to flash your phone to the latest OS. My problem is that in order to do it you need the multiflashflex pst 1,8 program and of course the flash. You can get the update on the above site but I cannot find the pst program.

Any suggestions?

The "message" is Cingular sending a "signal" to your phone to turn on the message icon and start the reminder beeping indicating you have mail. When you retrieve the message(s) (or after listening to the last message), the system sends another “signal” to kill the message icon on the phones display.

The V3i does not have a Cingular Flash/Flex yet and the phone does not know how to handle the “signal” so you get the strange display…

like that?

simple seem edit

SEEM 0032_0001

offset 02 - bit 1: BLOCKS THESE FEATURES: Call barring, Call transfer, Info Services, do not read VM number from SIM, Voicemail ^@ text messages, Multi-Line Support, My Network List, Manual Network Search (1 on, 0 off - set to 0 to UNBLOCK these features)
some of these features may be SIM dependant anyway, so activating it on your phone may not actually allow you to use it
