I have a Moto v551 that today stopped ringing. The display shows an incoming call, and vibe still works. But the ring tone is gone. I've double and tripple checked all settings, tried other ring tones, etc. It just won't work. Am I doing something wrong? Can anyone help?

I know the v551 is pretty much a piece of junk, but I've been happy with it for the year+ that I've had it. But now this... is this somewhat normal? Has this happened to other users with the model or other phones?

And help would be much appreciated. BTW, I'm on Cingular in southern california. I don't like cingular either... oh well.

if your speakerphone doesn't work, it's your speakerphone.=(ebay..6bucks)+t6 and a midget(his fingers will do) . if speakerphone works than it's probrobly >.>>>YOU

My V551 did the same thing this morning it just stopped ringing but the Vibe still works.
I still have noises at startup/shutdown, I can play ringtones, they just do not play when the phone rings. Speakerphone works.
I had an unread message about Cingualr changing their voicemail system for a day, I setup the new voicemail, still nothing...

With no help from this forum, I have since found that this is quite common with this model. I'm posting here to be of some help to any other poor soul who may stumble upon this. I solved my problem by calling Cingular. Luckily, i had owned the phone for under a year, so it was still under warranty. They easily replaced it, sent me a new one, and I shipped my old phone to them (all at no charge to me). Everything works great again and I was only down for a couple days.

And yeah, it's the external speaker that dies. The phone itself works in all other aspects: i could make and recieve calls, just couldn't use the speaker phone or hear the ringer when a call was coming in. I've since talked to three people who own this phone, and the same had happened to two of them.

So, lhedrick, call your carrier and see if your phone is still under warranty.
