It certainly can be a good source if you already know what you're looking for and can search it.To be sure, the MDA FAQ will provide a newb with a LOT of information. check it out at Howard Forum MDA FAQ There's also a wiki page at wiki howard forums MDA There isn't going to be an easy answer about setting up an MDA. It really depends on what you want it to do. Some people are really interested in text messaging, others in email, others in hacking. Start by defining what you want to be able to do with your little computer. Mail, messages, internet, maps, gps, games, media player, voice recognition, data syncing, calendars, photos, etc. If you are interested in email and web access (aside from wifi), the minimum plan you will need from tmobile is "tmobile web." It's cheap and slow, but it will get you there. If you want messaging you have the option of buying a messaging plan from tmobile, paying by the message, or using software that will send messages via the internet, bypassing the tmobile message service. From what I've been able to find there are a few choices that work consistently for this, but neither is free. Not too terribly expensive, either. Start with basic stuff, then as you get used to working with the MDA, consider adding to it for more features. ![]() |

Thanks for all your help guys.

Since my MDA is still in great shape, I may just see if I can toss Mobile 6 on this thing ans save the money. |
!!!??? Am I really gonna have to wait till tomorrow or tuesday to find out for myself!?

One of many options for WM6 would be on XDA Developers. Look for Xplore 1.1. I have been running it successfully for a couple of days now. |

CAUTION:When you perform a hard reset, your device returns to its default out-of-the-box settings, and all information and third-party applications are lost. Only perform a hard reset when you want to clear all settings, programs, and data. To hard reset the device, perform the following steps: 1. Tap Start. 2. Tap Settings. 3. Tap the System tab. 4. Tap the Clear Storage icon. 5. Type the indicated word or numbers, and tap Yes. The device resets and powers on. http://support.t-mobile.com/knowbas...lic/tm22933.htm I don't think you really need to reload windows. To get it unlocked, normally most phone companies will do it for you after the contract has expired. You can call them and tell them that you are leaving the country on a business trip, and you need your phone unlocked to use a foreign sim while away. T-mobile did it for me, no questions asked with my V600 maybe 2 years back. Hope this helps. |

and here's a free, off-topic tip from yours truly (CSR II PDA), for all of our jet-setting, globe-trotting, or otherwise travel-happy T-Mobile customers: DO NOT call me from the airport requesting the unlock code for your phone 2 hours before your flight is scheduled to leave for some godforsaken 3rd world principality where you will be stuck for the next 6 weeks without internet access... |
