Since you have the same router and CAN connect via Wi-Fi, perhaps you could share some admin settings from your Linksys set up page. It doesn't make sense that I can connect everywhere but home. Do you mind sharing your settings? |

If connected with other "pre-n" devices, you get tremendous range and throughput, and it also falls back to normal 802.11g as well as 802.11b.
I tried all different settings with it last night, including WEP 64 bit, WEP 128 bit, WPA/PSK with and without TKIP, and finally NO encryption whatsoever. The MDA behaved exactly as you described: it sees the WLAN, and when I put in the credentials and click "connect", it chugs for a few seconds and reverts back to "available". I was getting REALLY frustrated until I stopped by my local library today to see if it could hook up to their free, unprotected WLAN. Lo and behold, it immediately saw the WLAN, let me connect with a single click, and I was instantly browsing away at WiFI speeds. Turn off WiFi and it reverts back to GPRS/EDGE -- and is able to browse again that way. Works perfectly. But still no joy at home. So I need to experiment some more. If I find something, I'll post. Otherwise I hope that somebody will find an answer and share it here with us! |

I originally decided on the SDA, but after looking at the MDA, I really like it--as long as the phone is good. I've gathered that the SDA is better, but is the MDA just not as good as the SDA or simply bad on its own as a phone? Thanks. |

Any early thoughts on T-Mo making new ROM's available for download and self-install or are they going to make us ship the phones in? |

Without the proxy, your emails should be set to connect through the internet in email options (i think this allows them to connect via whatever internet source you are using, wifi or gprs). With the proxy hack, they have to be set to connect through GPRS. I think that is why you have to manualy select each time. try turning your proxy off, and see what it does for your email.
Anybody know how to get email to work through internet with the proxy settings? By not working, it does not allow me to use email triggering..... THANKS! |

I even tried go online and that worked with no problem. I'm impressed.

The 3390, btw, was known for being one of the really solid phones in this area. My MDA really seems to outperform them all. I've been driving around a LOT, I've been in a LOT of buildings over the last couple of days, and I just haven't lost a signal yet, even where I'd expect to. It's not magic, but my MDA sure seems to have excellent RF.

Anyway... GPRS works - I can browse various websites with no problem. WiFi works at home, at the library, at Panera, and tonight I found that while eating dinner in a local restaurant, I was able to pick up the WLAN from the hotel next door and browse via that. I have the 802.11g registry entry set so that faster speeds are enabled. All of this is great. But... I can't send an MMS. Could well be that I'm too tired and muddled now, and mixed up the GPRS settings. I'll try to describe what I've got, and maybe one of you will recognize the problem (I hope!): Under Settings / Connections / Connections, on the "tasks" tab I select "manage existing connection" under the top "connections group" -- it's currently titled, "T-Mobile GPRS". On the T-Mobile GPRS page that comes up next, I have two connections entered: 1) "T-Mobile Internet": - under "select a modem" I have selected "Cellular Line (GPRS) - clicking next, I can see "internet2.voicestream.com" set as the APN - on the next page: user name, password and domain are all blank - clicking "advanced" shows that I am using DHCP 2) "T-Mobile GPRS" is the second connection name: - modem is "Cellular Line (GPRS) - APN is "wap.voicestream.com" - User name, Password and Domain are all blank - using DHCP to fill in the rest of the blanks Backing out to the first screen where I can see both connections listed one above the other, I have "auto pick" checked instead of a specific connection. On the proxy server tab, I have "connects to the Internet" checked, but I am NOT specifying a proxy server. Should I be doing that again? Is it necesary? Anything else missing or look wrong? TIA... ![]() |

Now to figure out if the old $4.99 T-zones allows for EDGE in my area, or whether Tmo blocked me from the internet2 and internet3 APNs: only wap.voicestream.com works. |

Also, has anyone with a Tmobile MDA tried to upgrade the ROM? i'm tempted to do it, but i dont want to be the first ![]() - Jon |

Everything was great and the MDA even had better color balance than the K-JAM's bluish tint. White's were whites and blacks were truly blacks with no bluish hue. All good so far. Then I had put on screen protector from ppctechs just like my K-JAMs and noticed that the screen on the MDA was much harder to press and the screen sesitivity was really low..unlike my k-jam which has perfect screen sesitivity and there's no need to push hard on the screen. When I tap the K-jam screen, the upper layer screen instantly touches the sensors below while on the MDA, pushing the upper layer of the screen revealed that the layer had to travel farther down before hitting the touch sensors. The PPCtech tech confirmed that this was abnormal and that the screen on the MDA was farther from the touch sensors requiring a harder push. This bothered me and I ended up getting another MDA which had the same problem. So I returned that second MDA and for the time being decided to stick with the K-JAM.
Are any of you guys having touch sensitivity issues with your MDA's or 8125? I'm not sure if I should try to go for another MDA and maybe check out the screen at the store before walking out. Any thoughts or this screen sensitivity variation is normal between devices. Thanks for your input! Kitt9000 |

![]() Edit: Well I did do some searching on the gmail help forum and a user posted that if you change the setting to receive headers only and then check the box below to receive part of the message and set the setting to 999k, the messages should stay in your inbox on your device. Have not received emails yet so I will let you know if it works sometime tomorrow. It would suck not to get all of an email but if you are away from your phone at least you can see what came in while you were gone rather than an empty inbox. |

I have a lowly 2WIRE router and when I click on "Network Cards" it shows a list of all WiFi wireless routers in my building that it can detect, each one that is available is listed as "AVAILABLE" of course. Mine is 2WIRE807, and I guess since that one provides the stongest signal it shows "CONNECTING" next to it. I then go to PIE and try to get online via WiFi, but PIE kicks up the GPRS and prefers to go that route. I guess this is because it is not able to use the WiFi signal its supposed to be receiving? 90% of the AVAILABLE ones have a little lock next to the broadcast icon. Mine (2WIRE807) does as well. Could this be the problem? I'm assuming there is some simple fix that a noob like me needs help with. Thanks. |
