). But I just loaded the new Qtek test rom and the lastest radio update so that could have a lot to do with it as well. The new (test) rom works flawlessly so far and overall speed on the device is much improved, again so far.

We all know the MDA is kind of memory limited. No biggie. We can put in a mini sd card and be on our way. Besides, the more memory that is installed, it becomes more expensive and has less battery life. BUT, we still want to maximize this storage space. So, we all know to clear the temp files in IE and close programs when we aren't using them anymore. However, browsing around in file explorer, I noticed there are a lot of random files like "b183f2a7-06c3-4f27-9679-7baf97e94efa.rgu" in my windows directory and files like "mxip_notify.vol" in my root directory. Does anyone know wtf these are and if I can delete them? Ive lost well over 8 megs to this stuff. -_EDIT_- Well, the .rgu files are registry entries and the .vol are system settings too. Crazy way to store **** like that, especially since custom notifications also have to just sit in the windows folder. |

(keep in mind sometimes you have to purposely misspell certain word to get them to be pronounced correctly. For example for DJ I had to spell it as d j). 2: rename that file you downloaded into something you'd like. 3: move that .wav file to your devices /windows directory. 4: go to start - settings - sounds & notifications - notifications (select the event you'd like to change the ring for and select the respectable audio file). |

2. For those of you with Spb Pocket Plus 3.1: Have you gotten the Backlight Up and Backlight Down options on the Close button to work? They appear on the drop-down menu on the X button, but when I select them nothing happens. I thought I'd ask here before reporting it to Spb. 3. Occasionally, not always, after soft resetting from a registry tweak, the backlight will not come on. It comes on briefly with the T-mobile splash screen, but goes off before the Today screen comes up. Powering off and back on doesn't bring it back. I have to find a bright light and navigate through Start -> Settings -> System -> Backlight on the dark screen. There I see the slider is all the way to the left, even though I always leave it at the first tick mark from the left. When I move the slider to the right, the backlight comes on. Has anybody encountered this? 4. The clock only shows up on my Today task bar. It disappears from all other program task bars. Is this normal or the result of having Spb Plus and/or Pocket Informant installed? 5. Another registry tweak that may not be working is the one for making PIE appear as MSIE 6.0. When I go to www.disneyland.com/ap it comes back telling me I should upgrade my browser to 6.0. That site, anyway, doesn't seem to recognize my registry settings. If anyone knows of any other sites I can test with, I'd appreciate hearing about them. Thanks for any help. And double-thanks for all the posters who have alerted me to all the wonderful tweaks and supplied the settings for getting my T-Mobile web to work. |

Anyways, what I did was go here: http://www.macromedia.com/software/...ketpc/2002.html Click where you see: "Download Macromedia Flash Player 6 for Pocket PC 2003 Installer (EXE, 473K)" and save it someplace where you can go back and use it (I saved it on the desktop). Then after its done downloading, open up the file, following after the installation, if you have activesync, a screen will pop up and say something around the lines of "The next time you connect activesync to your mobile device, this software will be placed on it." Then after you take out the plug and put it back in, activesync connects to your phone, it'll install itself. Then it'll say something around the lines of "follow further instructions on your phone if any." Go to your phone and the installation should be complete. I tested it on myspace w/ a page that had music, worked perfectly. I could even pause the track and play it back like you normally can on a PC. Also tested it on seanjohn.com (has flash) and it worked great. Seems like this little program really makes my pocket PC really feel like a Pocket 'PC'. ![]() Any help needed im available all the time on AIM or on here. |

Thanks in advance. P.S. For those who have turned off the SMS confim, does it totally eliminate the confirmation, or just turn off the vibration when the phone in vibrate mode? I don't mind seeing the msg...but the long a** vibration is annoying. |

Its got a bit of a "sticky" feel to it with the stylus, but that's ok. Still ok for letter recognition and no problems otherwise. My initial impression is that its very nice and well worth it - going to put the other pieces on this evening as well. The "full armor" comes with pieces for the back cover and sides. All in all I vastly prefer it to the "hard" protectors I've seen... and it has essentially zero impact on screen press sensitivity.... |

anyone else know of anyways to do this? EDIT:: Nevermind. I figured it out. Pretty neat. Anybody else try it? |

Seriously, right now, I am #11 on back order list with local store which has PROMISED to sell me MDA for upgrade price, when they get a new batch in. Also, CSR with saves has PROMISED to call me every day (uh...yeah, right) with an update on the availability of the MDA. I will also be watching the MDA support site like a hawk for the update. As soon as (or if) it's posted, I will be on HF with a post faster than you can say MDA (just checked again. Not yet). |

Unforunately I sent in my claim form late and get left off the lawsuit. (sigh)
I see no difference between that lawsuit and the one that should be filed against T-Mobile for claiming the phone has java support. Ryan |

Oh well, I expect when the next ROM image comes out I'll have a chance to fix that! |

on the mda, once i get on a wifi connection, it remains in the mda's connections list. in order to get to a different or new wifi connection, i have to manually go in and select "remove settings:" settings > connections > wireless LAN > menu > network cards then hold down on the available wifi connections to disable the ones that you aren't near. so my question is, is there any way to disable the mda from remembering all its wifi connections so that it can just link up to the available network, rather than one that is invalid at the time of trying to get wifi? thanks! |

Assuming your MDA remembers your home settings, if you turn on WiFi when you're at a public hotspot, it will check out the local networks -- NOT find the SSID of your home network, but it WILL find the public WLAN and offer to connect. If there's more than one available, it will offer a list of WLAN's by SSID, and let you choose which to connect to. Works quite well in fact. The only time you'd have to tell it to drop old settings would be if you need to change the connection parameters on an existing, saved, WiFi connection.

EDIT: Well I seem to have gotten it working on EDGE, but the connection (about 130 k) seems to be too slow to stream video without frequent rebuffering. Anyone else experiencing this? |

Just got my 1GB MiniSD. I had been waiting to install the larger applications (Microsoft Reader v2.2.3 & Voice Command v1.5). When the MiniSD came I tried the installations. In both cases the checkbox next to "Install program into the default installation folder" was greyed out but checked, not allowing an installation to anywhere but main memory. During the installation of Voice Command, there is a message that clearly states that it can be installed on removable memory cards. Anyone else have similar problems or know a solution to allow the greyed out selection to be unchecked? |

To enable Bluetooth receive, I used the latest version of Registry Wizard, and checked the "Enable Bluetooth Receive" option on the second page. I'm not sure if this will work the same for sending/receiving from another device, but it works with my PC. |
