I'm gettin rid of my Treo650. It was giving me so many issues. I want my next pda to be more stable and less software crashes. I want a phone for easy AOL instant messenging. As far as size - I guess all three are pretty comparable in size. Anyone have any suggestions???

many of us already made the decision - 8125

Being that you are a treo user I don't find much a difference in whether you pick the 8125 or the 6515. I mean, the 8125 does have the latest windows mobile 5.0, but besides that the true difference is the form factor. The ipaq has a treo-like form factor, you can use it one-handed. The 8125 has a slide out qwerty.

i also have a treo and im going to sell it and buy a 8125. i dont really care too much about the one handed use because i dont walk down the street and type an email and hold a cup of coffee. its usually when im sitting. 8125 has many nicer features such as wifi, and the nice slideout spacious keyboard, wm 5.0, larger screen (this is a big issue cause the 6515 cant run all programs). i really like the way the 8125 looks. so im 99% going to get the 8125

Does the 8215 come with a aol instant messenger software? If it doesn't, is there one i can downld and use easily? Also for those that got the 8125 is it pretty stable, don't crash a lot? What kind of cases you guys got for it? I really like the silicon skin tight case that I had for the treo...hopefully they have the same for theh 8215..but its sorta hard since it's a slide out keyboard.

You can get AgileMessenger for free, it handles MSN ICQ AOL and Yahoo...and it comes with a somewhat janky leather case, but I'm poor so that will have to do for me for now (until someone comes up with a case I actually like.)

Anyone else have comments on which I should go with?

Are the ear speaker and speakerphone speakers on 8125 loud?
Most the PDA phones I have used, that was the main part where they sucks, so I alwways have to use BT headset or wired earplug.

Thanks

Well, I bought the 6515 from Cingular only because they had refurbs for $199. I was going to get the 8125 before I say how cheap the 6515 was.

I gotta say I LOVE this thing (6516)! Haven't tried the GPS yet, but I get 115kbps over EDGE on average and it is totally blowing my mind!

As a former Treo 650 user, I'd get the 8125 (which I did). The 6515 just seems bigger (not as fat, but wider/taller) and I have to say WM5 is a big improvement over the Palm OS and PPC 2003 (isn't that what 6515 uses?). If one-handed operation is critical, go with the 6515 - BUT - IMHO that is way overrated. The keys on the Treo are so close to the bottom, it was actually hard for me to get a firm enough grip on the unit and use my thumb to write anything - and the keys were so small dialing was not very accurate either.

Do you know what's the download speed for 8125 on cingular network? Is it comparable to 6515?

The current settings on the 6515 and 8125 are very slow. There was a thread in the pocket pc subforum with registry tweak settings. Also, I read that many users are installing Opera. They say its a tad bit faster.

Well, i switched my gprs settings last night so it would use the wap address. did a dsl reports speed test and got 118kpbs. and that was with only 2 bars. i drove into town and got 172kpbs. it was freakin awesome!

I'm also posting using my 6515 and enjoying it. :-P

Gotta admit the 8125 looked sweet for the last 4 months, but my 6515 (bought last month) has grown on me. No WiFi, true, but built in GPS is freakin awesome! Looked at the 8125 today at the store. Screen size is the same, but the dimensions are not as sweet, in my humble opinion. I may just hold out for the HP6900 later in may/june (maybe) timeframe for the wifi and WM5.0.

Why it has mini sd and standard sd, it has gps. It doesn't have wifi but an mini sd card or sd card takes that place. IT faster processor. Thats my opion. oh yeah its thinner that 8125 looks like a brick.

I agree with idic - the 6515 has grown on me. Cingular replaced my SX66 with the 6515, and I was uneasy about the changes. With my SX66, I liked having WiFi and loved the big screen. With the iPaq, I've gotten used to the smaller screen, found out I didn't really need WiFi (could get a card anyway),love having two card slots, and wouldn't get another PDA phone without built-in GPS (my deal breaker).
