Has anyone noticed you can't dial from the phone screen like you used to (by name)? If you can I can't figure it out.

You need to change the options within the phone or message app.

Remember there are more options than you think floating around.

I grabbed a 7290 with 4.1, and you appear to be correct. I couldn't figure out how to accomplish this. I'll ask around and report back...

Anyone figure this out yet? This is a major issue for me with 4.1 - I think I'm going to downgrade.

It can't be done...

Looks like 4.1 was originally written for the 8700 series (which has dedicated phone keys) and later ported over to the 7200 series. With the 7200 series lacking the dedicated keys, the ported software won't support the functionality.

When you work with as many Blackberry devices and versions of firmware that I do, it's easy to forget minor details. Nonetheless I got you the answer you were looking for. Please show some respect in the future, or many on this board will be less inclined to help you...

I noticed the same thing on my 7290 w/ OS 4.1. I used to be able to just scroll down to where the names are in the phone menu and just start typing someone's name and then hit enter. Not anytime I type down in the area it just types in numbers and does start searching from matching names. It just to be an option that you had to pick. For example take it off of phone log and use "most recent" or "most used"or whatever and take off dial from home screen too.
