Try this.... it works on version 4 (VX8100)

Create a new directory on your SD card named Ringers... put your Ringers there. When you access your Ringers on the phone they should be available... works on version 4. The ringer icons are Gold as contrasted to the Green icons for the (YUCCH..!!) stock ringers. I have 14 custom ringers stored and accessable this way. Perhaps this will also work on version 7.

I spent half the night, last night, trying to do it that way and no luck. Oh well. Somebody will figure out a way to crack it. I just have to sit back and wait.

A POX on Verizon !!. Appears they monitor Howard Forums. When we find a way to circumvent their GREEDY ways, they devise another way to disable it.

Sorry that won't work for you.

Damn the man! Save the empire!

I'm confident that somebody will find a way around v7 before too long. Can't let the man keep us down! haha

Were on the same boat... dammit i knew i shouldn't of updated to v7. New isn't always better.

I think it depends on the Verizon dealer. I just bought the Music Essentials kit from my local dealer in Indy and he told me straight up to stay away from v.7 if I wanted to download "bootleg" files.

For any other Indy readers, this was the shop in Greenwood on US31 South.

Once more.... How glad I am that I did *NOT* "upgrade" to Version 7. I am a believer in "If it ain't broke, don't fix it.!!" and KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid).

Can't help but be curious: Would a Verizon store be able and willing to reflash an LG BACK to version 04?

Hello
Just wondering if anyone knows how to use ringers from Get It Now on another phone?

I am able to use bit pim to get the ringers off my old phone (VX 8000) and save them on my computer, and then from my computer email my phone the ringer, but I cannot use bit pim to add the ringers to my ringtone directory.

Does anyone know how to overwrite the get-it-now ringtones? It keeps saying error in bit pim and also when I try to convert the .mid file in another conversion program, it says either the file is corrupt or the format is not supported.

Anything helps!!

Thanks!!

I've been told by Verizon tech support that it can't be done, the flash back to earlier SW verions that is. I don't know if that is a can't or a won't, but that is the line they take. I'm blocked from adding more custom ringtone I've made and have to live with the ones I got in before I was upgraded to v7. It wasn't an intentional upgrade and I wish I had seen it coming. Oh well. Waiting for the new work around to appear.

I'll look into these links, but I used to be able to put ringers into my 8100 through the brew mode and there in lies the rub. I can no longer get there. I always end up getting an error message regarding an issue in the transition from "none to brew" mode or some language like that. I'm watching the protocol log now as I try and there is lauguage in there, " device not opened for exclusive access" appearing. That doesn't sound too good for me unless anyone has ideas about how to reset that "usb set configuration" as the log calls it.

______

A correction to my earlier post. I spoke recenly with a VZ tech support guy and he very clearly stated, though not from experienc [ also clear about that] that in his opinion it should be possible to program back to v4. The process wipes out the old programming so he felt it should be possible to do it, but he was of the opinion that finding a dealer with the old software and the willingness to do it was a slim one.
