Treo 650 silent during meetings?

Hi,

Was wondering if there's any way to set the treo 650 so that it automatically goes into silent mode when you have an appointment/meeting, and then goes back to regular mode once the meeting is scheduled to finish.

Can the treo do this natively? Any third party programs?

Thanks.

with mring you can schedule it to go into different profiles at different times of day. it doesn't interact with meetings, though.

you may try Agendus or DateBk5. I'm sure one of those has that functionality. I am 95% positive Agendus has the ability.

I know that Agendus has this functionality, and that's what I use.It is a check off box that you have to select in one of the preferences menus.

I use Profiles 1.01 on my Treo 650 - works like a charm. It brings the Nokia-style profiles system to the Treo (including timed profiles), and has the addition of setting a profile based on a text-string trigger in the calendar (in other words, it can look for "Mtg" in your calendar, and trigger a "Silent" profile, if you'd like). In addition to sound & vibrate settings, the profiles can be individually customized for ringers, alarms, phone on/off state, and a whole lot more. Best of all, the app is free. However, there is a small, initial learning curve, so be sure you read the user guide. Also, be sure that you initially set up at least 2 profiles: one that is the "normal" setting, and then something else (like "Silent"). It's been a common new-user error to only create one profile, and then when the trigger for the profile expires, the Treo doesn't know what setting to return to.

At any rate, it's a great app, and will meet the need you described.

One other option is ProfileCare ($17), which is put out by the same guy that makes the ever-popular VolumeCare volume-boosting application.

How 'bout just flipping the mute switch???? ... you know... that small switch on top of the Treo???

Lol that's what I was gonna suggest... They designed the Treo with the switch there just for the purpose of quick silencing.

I'm sure that Netblade knows about the ringer switch, but he/she specifically stated that they were looking for a solution that would *automatically* switch to "silent" based upon a calendar entry, and then switch back once the appointment was done.

It's a reasonable thing to look for considering it easy to forget to flip the ringer switch back when the meeting is done (or, say, after a movie). That besides, sometimes the switch isn't ideal since it defaults to "vibrate" not "silent" (and sometimes even the noise of the vibrate mechanism is too loud for a meeting room).

hahah yeah thanks smartmoose

I know about the switch, I think it's one of the best features on the Treo.

But yeah, I was looking for a way to get the phone to do the silencing automatically. I know some Pocket PC phones do this out of the box.

I took a look at Agendus and it fills my needs exactly.

Thanks for the recommendation!
