Remix Configuration

Hey everyone,

I just got a Slider Remix(KX5) from Alltel. I have the Mobile Phone Tools, which are great for transferring media back and forth. But I can't get KPST or QPST to work. Is there a specific program or version I need for the remix to change the configuration? Like the default games on the phone, Alltel has disabled them, along with a lot of other features. If anyone knows, please help!

Thx,

what other features has alltel disabled? where did you find that they'd been disabled by alltel? i'm just curious and would like to know what could be on the phone.

Wirelessly posted (KWC-KX5/1.0.06 UP.Browser/6.2.3.2.c.1.101 (GUI) MMP/2.0)

Speaking in general so far. My Kx2 from Cricket has a couple tweaks ive unlocked. I'll let u know when i figure it.

I too have had problems with PST. It seems the version I have only works with a true serial cable, not USB. However I have had some limited success with using bluetooth with PST. I've been able to backup my phone and software, and also read it. But it will not let me copy it to the phone. Not too much of an issue, as I use Cellcom service, and the phone is completely unlocked. So my advise is to try finding a serial cable.

GOOD LUCK

i also made some changes. and i have alltel service as well i used the koycera wireless pst. but i cannot find anywhere there are games. but you can however make the videos record longer and make a silent option for the camera shutter sound as well as numerous other issues you can fix.

want to toss on a little how-to to change the things you've found so far?

Sorry, it took so long to reply. Unfortunately, I have to use my KX5 as a modem , so INET access is limited to nights and weekends (sigh).

Anyway, I figured KPST out. I had it configured to look on the wrong port. Use 'System Information' in WindersXP to find the virtual port and then configure KPST and QPST to use that port(mine jumped from COM4 to COM7...). After KPST actually sees your phone, the SPC was and is still 000000. Read from phone and the settings for the Games specifically are under the 'Display' tab, then called 'Enable KWC Games' change this to True and write changes to phone. Only Brick Attack and Race 21 show up(someone told me tetris once )
But that's how I got it to work. Video length is under 'Display' and... 'Length of Video'! Not sure the max, but 15 seconds is WAY too short!

Hope this helps, lemme know if you have more ?'s.

The KX5 just doesn't have the capability for object push, just V-card, serial port, handsfree and headset.

Posted by: thefaceeater

what is V-card

Posted by: hcbossman

V-card's are typically contact info, like names, numbers, and such. You can send them to another bluetooth device with the same capabilities.

anyone know where i can change the shortcut keys? e.g., the up arrow is for 'all contacts', bottom arrow is for ''axcess mobile web", etc etc.

Posted by: hcbossman

Sorry, Kyocera is very specific on those buttons not changing. Not sure why, but that's what they have told me.

how do you enable the custom menu? i cant see it anywhere on my phone, even after enabling a few things. am using icon view

Posted by: hcbossman

From the idle screen, press and hold the arrow up key. That will get you to the custom menu.

Posted by: BoredKender

it just brings me to my contacts

Posted by: hcbossman

That menu may be carrier specific. Who is your carrier, and what exact KX5 model do you have?

Posted by: BoredKender

i have Alltel as my provider. as for my exact model... it's a KX5BT

Posted by: thefaceeater

yes i have alltel as my provider as well and cant find anywhere how to access the custom menu even after changing it on the pst
