How do you set up the gmail configs? I've allowed POP emails with my gmail address, got those settings correct. Did the settings on teh 8125 and i still cannot receive gmail email on the 8125. I've tried doing the step by step at cingulars tutorial website to the tee and i still cant get it to work. Any tips?

Also how do you erase an email account that is set up on the 8125?

you have to use these settings:

Incoming Mail: pop.gmail.com:995
Outgoing Mail: smtp.gmail.com:465
under Options check "Require SSL Connection" "Outgoing mail requires authentication" "Use separate settings"
Click Outgoing Settings
Enter your username, password, check "Require SSL for outgoing mail"

that works for me.

I'm not having any luck with this. I've setup those servers but am missing something. For username do you use just your login or whole email? I've tried both. For the domain, do you use gmail.com or something else? I keep getting "message cannot be downloaded...check settings".

Thanks for any help.

i'm having trouble too. not sure what to put in for domain.

and the windows mobile site doesn't say you need to put in the :465 port names.

only pop.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com

username: whole e-mail address
password: your password
domain: leave it blank

incoming: pop.gmail.com, port 995, ssl
outgoing: you can use cwmx.com, port 35

i did exactly what the first guy said, included the ports, left domains blank and it works perfect, username is just the username no need for the @gmail.com

Posted by: Petromyzon

That did it for me - do not use a domain.

Thanks.

Try what the first guy said minus the port specification...worked for me...Good Luck

The problem is that the email client is quirky. It will delete previously downloaded messages even if they have not been mark for deletion. Some have reported that it is a Gmail only problem but the reality is that the same happens with other email providers. Flexmail 2006 is a good alternative for those who a better email client.

How do you delete a email account or rename it?

thanks

I had the same problem other people have had: you can download gmail emails, but they get deleted on the next 'send receive'.

The only way around this is to just download the heads, instead of the entire email. You can set it to download 999 kb (the max) and it will work fine. i have my gmail set to delete on pop access. however, when you phone gets the emails, they aren't deleted.

if you delete an email manually from gmail after checking it on your phone, then that email gets deleted from both your phone and gmail.

not a bad solution.

Sorry to bring back a really old post...

I am having problems where my 8125 won't let me log in to my gmail account.

I've put in all the information -- but when I tell it to "send/receive" it goes to the "logging in" stage and asks for my username/password. I type it in-- it acts like it is trying to log in, and comes right back to the same "logging in" screen.

Can anyone help?
