Hey, i recently sold my Motorola Razr, so i need a phone to use in the mean time untill i get my upgrade. I recieved a Nokia 6820 from my cousin and everything works fine, no problems with bluetooth or anything else, But when i try to acess AIM or Mmode it never connects, i've tried with full service. I also downloaded and installed both third party browsers and aim clients and they didn't work either. When i got the Nokia 6820 the phone was locked to AT&T I unlocked it and it is now Cingular. Could my problem be that cingular dosn't have Mmode, I've screwed around with all the settings seeing if that would make a difference but i got nothng.

So, How can I get my nokia 6820 registered to cingular to acess the internet?

Thx, Joe

I've done the exact same thing (minus the razr) and so far I've had success with getting the web only, no AIM. I went to Nokia's website and used their tool to send the network specs to my phone automatically. Worked well, and now I at least get an access point called Cingular Express as well as MMS and GPRS.

As for AIM, I'm gonna try IM+ but my expectation are low. My old phone was a 6682, which is almost impossible to use AIM with, unless you use Agile.

Change DNS server settings to manual and don't use Cingular's DNS servers.

I'm quite familiar with DNS servers in the computer realm but could you please elaborate on this for my phone? I don't see ANY dns settings on my phone.

In my connection settings I have data bearer settings and proxy settings, none of which I set myself:

GPRS ap: wap.cingular.com
authentication: secure
login: automatic
user name: wap@cingulargprs.com
password:

Then i have proxy settings:
proxies: enabled
primary: 66.209.11.32:8080
secondary: blank

Oh joey here's the Nokia link for setting your phone up to access the net. It works quite well.
