So when ever i try to sign on to AIM it says

Packet Data Not Available. Please check network services.

I have 1000 text messages a month and i want to start using htem now, so how do i use get this service available.

Use Agile Messenger, it's much better.

Not sure if it uses data or SMS though.

agile uses medianet. the built in client uses a combo of medianet and sms. if you don't have a mdeianet plan (pay per use or package) aim won't work. You should eith call customer service or visit a store to have them check to make sure that you have at least the medianet pay per use option on your account. you won't be charged for data usage if you use the AIM client that comes on the phone, but if you use agile messenger you'll be billed for medianet usage.

alright thanks.. i will call now and have them add the PPU MN. So i wont get charged for data, only text messages correct?

just called them and they made me register with medianet which didnt do anything. Im still getting this message

Packet Data: Packet Data Not Available. Check your network services.

Did you powercycle your phone since they added it to your account?

if you have a 6682, agile is a must have, IMO.

right now i dont have a data plan, and thats what agile uses. I am going to add the data plan in a month or so when i get my outlook/gmail set up the way i want. Plus im not keeping this phone so i am going ot load software on it. I still get teh same message, about packet data.

What exactly is Packet data? Is it data sent between the carrier and my phone?

You can use text messages only to use AIM. It's cumbersome, though. I think they call it IM forwarding now, but that used to just be how it worked before all the fancy schmancy software.
