Gmail & VersaMail Issues!

I have a Verizon Wireless Treo 650. I also use Gmail as my e-mail account, and I use VersaMail as my POP3 client to send and receive e-mail on my Treo.

VersaMail downloads all my mail properly via autosync and a force retrieve whenever I wish, the only problem is if I send e-mail on my PC, VersaMail will download those sent items, as well as my incoming mail and put everything into my Inbox. I would like VersaMail to continue to download both my sent items, as well as my new incoming mail, but I would like it to automatically sort and put all the e-mails I sent from my PC into the Set folder in VersaMail, and keep all the new incoming mail in my Inbox.

I updated my Treo OS software, as well as VersaMail's software to the latest version's on Palm's website. After I did this, VersaMail was behaving the way I wanted it to, until I HotSync'ed. My HotSync process froze on the VersaMail screen and I had to hit the reset button at the back of my Treo, and unplug the USB cable and hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and shut down the HotSync process. When I looked at my VersaMail on my Treo, my account info had all been deleted and I had to create and set up my account all over again. Once I did this, VersaMail started downloading all my mail and putting it all in my Inbox once again rather than separating them. I called Palm for tech support and they were less than helpful. Hopefully you guys can be of assistance.

Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem, I just resorted to using my treo 650 as my mailer ( i have gmail also.) and I just use my gmail account as my "server" if you will... but if somebody could explain hwo to do that also I would greatly appreciate it.

Before I go on, I'm new to Treo 650 my very first one. I have no problem using gmail or VersaMail. I don't mess around the programs nor have I installed anything yet; it freaks me out, I hear all about hard-restarts. But I've always wondered. What is the MAIL icon/software for, what is the use of it? how do you set it up if any use? Is it the same as VersaMail? If you don't know what I'm talking about, the icon says Mail (a blue arrow pointing right on top, and a red arrow pointing left on the bottom). Please advise thanks to all. I want to be able to use my 650 to its capacity but I'm new to the whole thing.

Versamail IMO is very tempermental, sometimes it's works, sometimes it doesn't. Chatter is a good alternative but it's more IMAP friendly.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/Palm-D050; Blazer/4.3) 16;320x320)

l also have been seeing some wierd Versamail/gmail behavior, though i'm using a t/x and not a treo. a lot of the time it will tell me there isnt any mail available when l know there is. Anyone have any experience with Snappermail? thinkin about tryin it out.

I tried snappermail. and ive read alot about people loving it.. there is a 30 day demo at www.mytreo.net ... its preaty nice, I just dont want to pay for it right now. but its got a lot of better features then versamail.

I don't want to pay for a program. I got VersaMail free on my Treo CD when I bought it. Verizon offers it with purchase.

Does anyone know why I can not reply to a yahoo account e-mail? I get some error 550? Also with VersaMail, I can not see pictures, anyone know why, or should I just get another e-mail program? (For example dumb advertisment pics).

Versamail is very quirky. I was using versamail with my gmail and it was working fine... until I added my work email account as well. I had both accounts set to autosync and versamail would only autosync my gmail account. I deleted both email accounts, soft reset, deleted all versamail databases per the note from Palm support and setup both accounts once again. This time around though I setup my work email foirst and then my gmail.. Voila.. my work email would autosync without a hitch and my gmail would consistemtly fail...

I switched to chatter and I am a happy camper.... Both accounts autosync just fine now....

Sorry to kind of get off subject, but I figured I wouldn't make a new thread.

How did you guys get versamail to only load your inbox? It loads my 'All Mail' and gets my first 374 emails. Considering those are from '04 ... I don't really need to look at them. Any ideas of how to avoid this with out deleting all my mail?

Thanks in advance guys.

Figured it out. Setting in both POP setting on gmail to only give new emails, and versamail to only get the newsest '1 week' or '2 week' emails.

Sorry for the premature-question. :P

The problems might have been that you had both accounts set to autosync at teh same time. The Treo wouldn't be able to send/receive data at teh same time for both acounts. If you set them at staggard intervals (ex. acct. 1 @ 9:00, acct. 2 @ 10:00, acct. 1 @ 11:00, acct. 2 @ 12:00, etc...) that might have solved the problem...that is if that was the problem to begin with.

What do you mean? This will get VersaMail to automatically put my sent mail into the "Sent" folder and my incoming mail into my "Inbox"?
