Hi all, just browsing the internet and found this page.
Im looking to buy a S40 in about a week or so and read all the stuff on the internet (bad signal, lock ups, etc) and wondering how bad it really is?
does the new firmware fix all the problems?
im buying from the telephone booth in Ontario w/sim card for about $400 and was wondering what firmware i would be getting?
any other comments on the phone or possible alternatives to it?
the v66 is sort of nice (read that it bits hard tho), or the eric t29 or a 82 or 89 series nokia? any thoughts would be great
just read more of the forum posts
, should i wait for the s47??any pictures???
oh one last one, is the rogers gsm network 1900 or 1800

From what I've read on the Siemens forum, the S40 has pretty weak reception and is only worth it if you live in an area with a strong signal. I've used one for about 2 weeks and have to say that the reception is horrible when compared to the 8290 or 8890.
The phone looks great but I wouldn't personally recommend it to anyone. The firmware updates apparantly don't update much at all and do NOT do anything to improve the reception.
Go for the 8890 (although it has been discontinued) or check out the mphone.co.uk website over in Europe and get an unlocked phone from there.
