WM5 and Exchange 2003 Activesync Issue

I got a Cingular 8125 with Windows Mobile 5.0 this last weekend and was able to sync it with my companies Exchange 2003 SP2 Server. It queries the server every 15 minutes using the GPRS connection and seems to sync my inbox, calendar, contacts and tasks just fine. However, I am unable to reply or send messages. I noticed that when I compose/reply and send a message from the 8125 it syncs to my "sent" items on my desktop computer (ie my exchange profile on the server) at work but does not go out to the recipient. Is this normal for WM5? Is there a setting in exchange I need to get my IT guys to update?

My thinking was that maybe I could get the 8125 to just sync to my "outbox" on the exchange server and maybe then it would send to recipient but that is not an option on the smartphone.

Does anyone know how I can get this smartphone to send emails using activesync and the GPRS connection?
Thanks...

I have been using it about a week and haven't had any issues. I connect to our EXCH servers and send/receive mail all the time.

It must be a setting on the server, itself, because there isn't much to config on the phone.

Ya, that's kinda what I was thinking myself. Any Exchange Admins out there that might know what would cause this issue?

Yes, it's a security issue. I have the same problem. The Exchange admin said to use a different outgoing server. He suggested I use my comcast email account for outgoing.

So incoming for me will be mail.myCompany.com and outgoing will be smtp.comcast.com. I haven't tried it yet but it seems possible.

but you cant use comcast unless you are connected to their network. So connecting via GPRS wouldn't work. Connecting via Wifi at your house would but that wouldn't help as you could do that on your PC too.

The server thinks it's possibly spam i guess and put it in the sent queue but it wont be let go till someone let's it fly. There's settings somewhere but i dunno

Figured it out. My companies back-end security settings don't accept emails directly to the exchange server. They had to put my email account on the exceptions list...works now.
